Gravatar she has a good voice but I thought the musical accompaniment did not match her version AT ALL.... was competing with her, and did not match the feeling of the song. bummer

Gravatar I agree she has a great voice but I actually didn't think her interpretation was that great. It hadn't occurred to me the accompaniment might have affected my perception.

Now Patti Labelle singing that other "somewhere" song -- "Over the Rainbow" -- *that* blows the house down.

Here's Patti doing it with an R&B accompaniment:

And a cappella (about 1:30 in):

Gravatar The accompaniment is way to loud in the mix. The guitar is a nice touch though.

Gravatar Strong voice, nice personal story - shitty arrangement. Give me Patti/Chaka/Aretha/Pre-Krak Whitney over these New Gen divas anytime. Hell, I get a bigger bounce listening to my old Edith Piaf, Bjork, Dinah Washington and Nina Simone stuff.
