People like Dodd and Feingold are just about the only hope for America. For most of the rest, let god sort them out.
Goes without saying that McSame is scum.

Thanks tlg..... I was wondering just how that went down. Geeeeze. I can only hope a year from now this will somehow become apparent just why they did this when they didn't really have to. It makes no sense to me now. None. Time will tell I guess. Still though..... fucked up.

Well that will save me some money this cycle.
No money to the DSCC.
If I've got spare sheckels for incumbents, I'll filter them directly to some of the 28 Nays.
I'm done partly subsidizing the fucking Nelsons and Salazars.

Ah. Haloscan ate my comment.
I've saved some money the past couple of weeks. No money for the D-Trip or the DSCC. I'll be happy to give a few sheckels to a few folks who voted against this thing in the House and Senate.
No money for Democrats who voted for this though. I don't trust Democrats with warrantless wiretaps any more than I do Republicans.

I think this is an mportant ingredient to toss into the ThinkStew. It's from over at Al Giordano's place, The Field --
http://narcosphere.narconews.com...rites-the-
field
Wherein Al gives a big shrug to FISA and Glenn Greenwald goes bananas about it.
Al's position and the Comment thread are illuminating. Provides a historical perspective of surveillance on US citizens that is done by other countries and then turned over to the US.
My favorite commenter considers that, since FISA has never stopped surveillance, illegal or not, and still won't, ever, this vote controversy is a "fake battle" being fought on two fronts: by Hillary supporters trying to say, see, they were right all along, and by people who just want revenge for the last 7 years, no matter what the price. "When you set out for revenge, you dig two graves," is a pertinent phrase, indeed.
From that comment at the Field:
The people in the second category are genuine in their fear and anger and it isn't really the crappy legislation written by appeasers in the House of Reps. It's that we aren't going to lock Bush up for a hundred years. When you set out for revenge [you] dig two graves has a lot of meaning in this context.
As far as the so called problems with FISA itself, I take the presumptive nominee at his word, and I will make him hold to it if he is elected president, that the loopholes will be closed. While he is simply one vote in the Senate I am not going to demand he run up on the sword of a losing battle just for my self-satisfaction (and ultimately against my self-interest).
I've already had my days of Purity, thank you, apologized where necessary and not where not. This time around, I know it's a game and a dance, and I just want to see this particular Dem candidate claim the big prize.

Here's another take on Obama and FISA that you should take a look at. It's by Brad Hicks.

Because it's brand of sheep it top-notch no doubt. Really, what will it take for (some of) you people to wake up? Jesse Jackson to ACTUALLY cut Obama's nuts off?

Kin CA Sen SciFi continues to dismay and stuff the war machine for her hubby.
Boxer? A No vote, out of convenience.
Don't GET me started about Pelosi.
I've never been so ashamed of CA pols since Nixon was a Senator and Reagan was a Governor.
Accountability, be damned in their names.

Right, well that narrows the choices. Hmm, still can't decide...Ralph Nader or Ron Paul? Or maybe whoever's running on the Natural Law ticket? At least Ron Paul wants to restore the Consitution, and get rid of all those amendments cluttering it up.
Oh, wait. The Constitution's gone. So it doesn't matter who I vote for, since the puppetmasters will just install whoever they want. Ok, I'll just stay home and join the "I told you so" chorus afterwards. Nothing to do now but laugh cynically at the news, good or bad and enjoy the view from atop my high horse.

I was just taking GWC's pessimism to its logical conclusion. I might have voted for Ron Paul when I was in highschool and besotted with Ayn Rand and the gold standard (and luckily, too young to vote). I took a bit longer to outgrow L-5 colonies and libertarianism, but I did work at NASA at the time so was duty bound to hate Senator William Proxmire, though not Democrats in general.
As pissed off as I am about Obama not lending moral weight to fend off the FISA bill, I did send him some cash in June. It was the black woman activist who posted about being hounded even today for stuff she did in the 1960s that swayed me.
I'm half-Honduran.

It's cool. Back in the day I just thought Ron Paul was a bit off somehow. Now it's pretty obvious he was already nuts then and just got worse with age. I guess someone had to step into Lyndon LaRouche's empty shoes.
