Well, if we're ever going to have a ticket with two progressives on it, this is probably the year to do it.
I still like Wes Clarke's willingness to go after McCain.

From his resume he sounds like the sort of guy I could like. But I've never heard him speak and have no idea what kind of presence he commands. Running on a national ticket is worlds apart from a small state senate campaign. You gotta take to this sort of thing like a pig in shit. Obama has it. Bill Clinton had it. Mondale, Dukakis, Bentsen, etc did not.
Personally I think Obama should go west. I'm tired of Senators from the northeast.

I think VP's don't have to be charismatic... In fact often they are chosen with one eye on them NOT overshadowing the top of the ticket.
There was a real concern in the kerry campaign that Edwards was too handsome and popular. Most think this is part of why Kerry kept Edwards at arms length

Don't look to CA for a western Senator, less it's Barbara Boxer. Or maybe Rep Maxine Waters.
And neither of them has what it will take to FIGHT for this eleciton, it's gonna get REAL mean, nasty and dirty racially and liberally before it's over.
And PLEASE don't consider SciFi, OR Pelosi.
Mr. Reed is just too unknown. He's got NO recognition of any kind on the national scene, I think that's a minus for Mr. Obama under the circumstances.
Mr. Obama has waffled to the right so far it's sad (I don't think he had to, but IAMA political analyst), he's NOT a progressive, and never HAS been in his career, he's a moderate centrist, a deal maker.
He'd best go to a progressive with a lot of name recog and proven guts to fight back, in order to appease the base, and fight like hell to beat the racism and 'liberal traitor' label that's going up on him and ANY one he picks . . . .
If it weren't for Edwards being smeared by the tabloid thang, and the likelyhood there WAS an affair, I'd be shooting bottle rockets to the gods above, WITH incense, for his selection. But alas.
Al Gore, is all I got left. Someone who has name recog, can reunite the party to a more CENTRIST cause than Mr. Obama has taken it, and knows what it's like to be defamed day after day . . . his negs with the 27%? I DON'T CARE!!!
TIme to NOT cave to the minority, time to LEAD, and appeal to the MASSES, beyond the narrow minded. Win all the blue states, win one or two others who have SHIFTED in the past two elections, and we're in . . .
NO MORE APPEASEMENT!!!
The minority/evangelical vote don't get to decide who leads no mo.
And the racists are out there, no doubt, but with a good VP selection . . . . they'll be negated, by calling them EXACTLY what they are, day after day.
The MSM?
Buy air time!!! DO DEBATES!!!
We kill them, coast to coast.
I mean, McCain is senile, for god's sake!!
He can't get ANYthing right, much less in a debate where he can't tell the difference between Shia and Sunni, Iran or Iraq.
Much less the subgroups at work in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, and on and on.
Get him in a debate on national tv, and even the midwest racists will concede McCain's senile and ignorant. What's the worst, they stay HOME election day?

no, not California.
Personally I keep circling back around to Clark. Razor sharp in the same way that Obama is. Foreign policy in spades. Anti-war since the beginning. Not afraid to call bullshit on McCain and all the media enablers who are desperately saying "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain".
I also don't know why Richardson seems to have dropped off all the lists. I've always liked him. Good western state governor with a lot of experience.
Frankly Biden, Kaine and Bayh leave me cold.

Why should he pick someone unknown I still think that it should be someone with national appeal like either Clarke, Richardson, Sebelius or even Clinton.
Someone that has a good machine for raising money and doing GOTV

the lack of recognition would be a detriment, rhode island is small and not in play (solid blue), still, with all the speculation running, he's not as bad as some, not as good as another.
also out west, and could give mcCain a run for his money (but again, the recognition factor isn't there) janet napolitano. she's a two term governor of a fairly unruly state. she does a good job.
clark is still viable. especially since right after he took his shot at mcCain, mcCain promply did stuff to validate clark's jab.

Not sure why my comment made yesterday didn't show up ...
I would rather have General Clark as a free agent, able to tell the truth whenever he sees fit.
Can't quite do that as #2 in a Presidential campaign.
As for Veep, Sebelius makes my inner ear go ping!, but on the basis of rational thought, I have no preference, no clue, and will trust Obama.
