People have finally gotten tired of being told to "Be Afraid" and the burnout is evident in the record turnouts seen so far.
On the other hand, Americans sure are getting well-trained.
At an international airport the other day, I noticed that all the Americans were taking off their shoes and belts before going thru security. And they were the only ones. No signs, and no other travelers bothered.
Neither did I.

Obama is writting the book on how to handle these fools whether it is fear-mongering, racism or xenophobic attacks.
He laughs at them and I think John Q. Public is taking notice.
Given the schizophrenic meltdown we've witnessed over the last few days with Clinton's frustration over her attacks not working and her slipping leads, with McCain's legendary temper McCain's fucking head should explode a few weeks into the GE campaign as he watches all this crap roll off of Obama like water.
For the first time in years I'm not afraid that either my candidate or the public is going to fall for this shit.
The fall is going to be fun.

Not only were they shown to be stupid by voting for "the guy they'd rather have a beer with...twice," but they were stupid enough that they would have rather had a beer with Bush over Kerry and Gore.
Personally I'd rather have a beer with someone who can hold up his end of an intelligent conversation and isn't a mean drunk. I'm silly that way.

Admiral Komack: no its taht i have no faith in hte american electoriate. how many racists arn't mysoganists. how many mysagoninst arn't racist? the groups overlap heavly and dems will never win either group no matter who the dems win. Face it without cahngeing the american electorate the republicans will allways controll nationa lelections...that is why obama is so improtant, he is cahngeing the electorate and engaeing people who have allways been ignored.

The idea of a Manchurian candidate could turn around and bite McCain on the ass. Remember in the movie it all happens when the guy is a captive, brainwashed and well mimicking John McCain's real life. It is not too much of a paranoid Rightwing step to insist that the double agent who used to be a Liberal is no a triple agent and fucking the Conservatives who would put him in power. My head hurts when I try to think like a Rightwing Whackjob.

you want to see a mancurian canadate, look into clinton. she is now pitchign her attacks on the 700 club
http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/328257.aspx
she has long ties to at least two domininist groups in DC (most notably the fellowship) she is very active in the national prayer breakfest. and in a recent speach in RI she tried to protray Obama as the antichrist ('secular paridise on earth' adn what not)
daily prayer group meetings, willingness to lie at teh drop of a hat to furtehr her own goals....she realy seems like a donmmininist to me.

Does anyone rememeber the two 8ish year old girls next to Bush a couple months ago? One white, one black? Neither looked altogether pleased to be next to the dry drunk.
I received this via email today. This girl looks to be completely over it. This picture just cements it for me. Kids are tired of being used as props during the campaign.
I've noticed the same type photo op in previous campaigns but have never noticed the kids so completely uninterested in the spectacle before.
Funny.

McCain going after Obama as a Manchurian candidate is perfect Rove-ism. Rove's move is to attack opponents on the very thing his candidate is most vulnerable on. George W. Bush attacked John Kerry's military service in Vietnam. The Republicans have taken this as THE way do run elections. If they were running against Gore they would attack him as insufficiently friendly to the environment.
They'll probably attack Obama as being too old next.

Yes, very funny. In the movie, the real Manchurian candidate was the red-baiting, right-wing blowhard, who did not have a funny name or a exotic pedigree by the way.
I feel that this particular attack will fall on deaf ears anyway. Most people haven't seen this old movie, and if the attacks inspire them to do so, then they will get a dose of anti-McCarthyism wrapped in a nice popcorn night to boot.

The thing that has bothered me since 1992 about the Clinton's is there exceeding ability to suck up to those who have repeatedly humiliated and traduced them. Now Hillary is using Drudge to plant stories and photos that she thinks or some loon working for her thinks will harm Obama. She sucks up to the fundies, to Murdoch, she has not repuditated MissyAnnyCoulter. We knew Bill was a horndog, he wasn't even a particularly adept one even. And still they suck up to folks who mocked his horndoggery. Ah well, she and McCain are two of a kind. Yesterday's news, yesterday's PNAC, yesterday's issues, yesterday's techniques. Maybe it is a good thing that the boomer generation is moving off the stage. We had a long run, we voted in Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2 once, and a Clinton hardly distinguishable from what went before or what has come after.
Sometimes it is good to bring out the broom and throw out the old babies with the bathtub, the bathwater, and the bathroom decor.

What CK said. In spades.
What did Hillary say to Bill O'Reilly when she attended that FauxNews 10th anniversary birthday bash in 2006?
"Hi, Bill! Good to see you. Thanks for slagging me and my family, and democrats in general, for the past decade. Can I get you a drink?"

Isn't this the same Mark Halperin who was too afraid to have his own political opinion as political director of ABC News?
Guess it depends on who you work for. It's official: Mark Halperin is a hack in the basketball sense.

Manchurian Candidate synopsis:
"A republican candidate who loudly proclaims his patriotism is in reality a brainwashed man who acts to harm and destroy the USA".
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Now just WHO does that remind you of? Clinton.... no no... Obama... no.... hmm drawing a blank. A president of USA who loudly proclaims his patriotism, calls anybody who is against his policies traitors and then enacts policies to destroy this country.
Drawing a blank here...
