Well well welcome aboard, Li'lest Gator. And were this another A-level blog, I'd be shouting the inappropriate "Zed" or the now-archaic "Frist/Fitz." 'bout now. But I am a mere lurker who very occasionally commented here because I wanted to help the regular contributors know that somebody is paying attention and appreciates their efforts, especially in light of their super-giant founder and predecessor.
Looking forward to hearing more from you soon.

What was Noam Chomsky's elementary school like?
When I saw an interview with him in the documentary, "Manufacturing Consent" he seemed to really like going there. He said they were basically allowed to study what they wanted and he never knew to worry about grades until high school.

yup that is it exactly, even some 20 years later, we did not do grades, we did these massive narrative reportcards. As a teacher it was a ton of work, but what does an 85% mean anyway. We spent a bunch of time really knowing the kids.
I called it the "other answer" school, cause when our kids were forced to take statewide testing, multiple choice bull shit, more often then not they would write in their own anwers that made more sense then the choices they were given.
it was an amazing place to work. I loved every minute of it.
