thanks for the response khris, good to know that the ads are optin, and I would not mind this sight opting in if the ads are clearly ads...how dose that part work, are they clearly marked as an advertisment or dose it look like another post?
Cool....I use Haloscan, and when it works, it's great, but when it doesn't, it's a pain.
Of course, I get about 2-4 comments/week, so my needs are minor.

Good question.
I think sites could try different placement of ads [top/bottom of comment roll, inserted in between comments, etc] yet in all cases it would need to be clear to readers what was a comment and what was an ad.

We have not decided anything about ads in comment boxes.
This is literally the first I've heard about it.
Like any revenue stream, it is something in which we will balance the needs of our readers against the needs of the business.
NOTHING has been decided yet, and nothing will be decided for a while.
The core of GNB is meeting in Austin at Netroots next week in person. I imagine this is one of the many items we will discuss.
Relax. The more stuff changes, the more it stays the same.
Np Jesse, teh ads may be a good thing, I dont' think any of your readers would begrudge a diffrent revenu stream, as long as we knew they where adds.
