I don't expect this to have much effect on voters, but let's see if this moves a big block of superdelegates. They might've been spooked by the Wright stuff, but now that they saw that Obama didn't go run and hide, they might be convinced that its the time to start closing the door.
The non-resolution of Michigan and Florida probably provides and even greater impetus to put this thing to bed before it goes to inside politicking within the DNC committees and bursts out onto the convention floor.

It's an important endorsement - Richardson can bring his rather impressive resume to the campaign, and would also (imo) be a good VP candidate with Obama.

This is an important endorsement, Richardson breaks the ice for others to follow. Especially since he was a declared candidate, he is a governor of a Mountain West state moving to blue, and Hispanic.

Yup, I agree: a typical modern white person so little imbued with antique racist rhetoric that he not only doesn't intend a sly slur, but has time to blink a couple of times before figuring out what this meant.
Regardless of wengler in particular, I wonder how many non Aryan-Nation white people under 40 even have the term in their vocabulary.

I was impressed with Bill Richardson during an interview on CNN with Wolf Blitzer regarding superdelegates. Richardson seemed really happy to be out of the race, and he said he was just sitting at home and growing his beard. Basically, he seemed like a regular guy, and I liked him for that.
I don't know whether the numbers show it yet, but I think Obama's standing up for Reverend Wright will at least firm up existing support if it doesn't bring in new voters. Obama did the mature and honorable thing in publically disagreeing with the reverend's politically embarrassing speeches while standing up for him as befits someone nearly as close as one's father. That's the difference between him and either Clinton, and it counts.

This is a relief for me. I wrote to Richardson 2 weeks ago (this Dog's a constituent) and asked him to stick by his words on Meet the Press & endorse the delegate leader post-Texas/Ohio, namely Obama.
Big woop, like he read it, but still I think he got a lot of mail like that.
I urged him not just to make an endorsement but to make it LOUD, not that Richardson alone can push the nomination into the endgame, but if he's followed by others who can see the benefit of putting Obama over the top sooner than later the Dems can get to work making internal peace & lighting out after McSame. Short-term it could also turn the news cycle to more productive things.
Here's one cautionary about Bill Richardson & the Hispanic/Latino vote: outside of NM he's totally untested in that regard. He left the race before reaching "brown" states like CA so there's no proof that Latino voters would accept him as a 'carnale' on the basis of pride of heritage alone. He'd have to work a shitload harder than that, even as veep candidate.

Bill Richardson was my pick for a Secretary of State given his background in internationl negotiation. We need that. I also like his take on NCLB... "scrap it". So this is just great. We need him.

Thanks for the smile there, Myrtle Hussein ...
Talking ticket is certainly a sign that the endgame's coming, but I'd like to know exactly what role a veep'll have in the next admin. We've gone from Quayle to Gore to Cheney -- that's like going from a "semi-active piece of cream cheese"* to Rasputin in a few short years. And exactly which branch of gov't will the Veep belong to anyway?
I'd almost rather Richardson not get a job out of this, it would bolster his integrity & stature in the long run, but if he does get one I'd hope it's State. A native Spanish speaker could go a long way towards re-opening a dialog with the new generation of Latin American leaders who've been reduced to viewing the USA as at best a market, at worst El Gran Diablo.

So where the f&@k is Edwards?
Don't tell me the Borg Queen has his nuts.
Other than that, I'm really surprised at Richardson's endorsement. And happy for Obama.

-I used to think that Edwards was hanging back to try to be a kingmaker at the convention.
But now I really don't care where he is.
I'm glad Obama got Richardson's endorsement.

Speaking of Edwards, there was a subtext of "the speech" for Super-D's that chasing blue collar union votes instead of those from the party's base is an exercise in futility.

By the way, CNN International's election coverage is mostly pretty good, but their continued harping on Rev. Wright is beginning to annoy the piss out of me.
How about a little sauce for the gander?

This context thing has been bothering me all along with the snippets of Wright's talking.... I mean you do not make a 30-40 year career serving a community portrayed as they have and continue to do. Doesn't happen.
And thankfully, Roland Martin has now nailed down the context of the 9/16 sermon. One of the most controversial statements in this sermon was when he mentioned “chickens coming home to roost.” He was actually quoting Edward Peck, former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and deputy director of President Reagan’s terrorism task force, who was speaking on FOX News. That’s what he told the congregation.
http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/...hts-911-sermon/
So, now CNN needs to stfu, especially scarborough, buchanan, beck and hell, the lot of these "journalists". Shameful they are trying to pull this shit..... again. Pastors in all communities frequently say "shocking" things as examples of whatever their point it. Keeps the congregation awake. I too am sick of this crap.
Bill Richardson got 1% of the vote in NM and winning margin was 1%. So this endorsement is BIG. A real slap in the Clintons' face for sure.
John Edwards cannot wait till the convention. That is quickly becoming apparent. It won't matter soon and sure won't matter at the convention. There is still weeks until PA. Looooooong weeks they will be too.
The thing is, and we know this, regardless of what anyone, especially Obama, says to "answer" their gibberish, it won't be enough. Its how they operate. They should have their credentials pulled.

Richardson didn't just watch the Superbowl with Clinton.
Clinton dropped by Richardson's Superbowl party uninvited and I'm sure ate up all the buffalo wings.
No wonder the man didn't endorse his wife.
