The actual number of USer fatalities directly attributable to the ICORP of Iraq is probably twice that. If an injured trooper lived long enough to leave the country, they're typically not counted in the fatality count. Was that way in Nam, too...the 'official' count was 58,202, but at LEAST 40k more died of injuries sustained in-country, succumbing later to different, yet associated causes....

The freepers will just say that four thousand is nothing compared to the amount of people that died in other wars. Since Iraq is the most important war of all time, cause it keeps the brownies down, we should all be grateful that the death count is so few.

An article about this at MSnbc said that In Vietnam the ratio of wounded to KIA was approx. 3 to 1. In Iraq, because of medical advances, the # of wounded to KIA was 15 to 1.
That would suggest far more are wounded than the #'s I typically see: 60,000 vs. the 30,000+ figure that I often see.
The numbers is artificially low anyway though. They don't include contractors, etc.

Note: these deaths are included in our overall totals.
There have been more VN deaths from agent orange and suicide than names on the wall. It will get bad for OIF vets in the years to come.
