And the only way they can sustain the lying, is to somehow make Iraq into our 51st state, complete with strip malls, a stock exchange, BlockBuster Video stores, and sweetheart deals for their petro-buds to get access to Iraq's oil.
It ain't gonna happen. Too many people are gagging on the koolaid.
Too many POWERFUL people don't want to see the world turned inside out, just to cover george bush and the GOP's asses, while they start monumental fuckup #2, so that they can enfold monumental fuckup #1 into it, and call it "the greater waronterrr".
We need to hang tough. No compromises.
As we speak, the GOP senior elephants are deciding when is the optimum time to put george bush on a political spit, on the white house lawn, and then invite the nation to the barbecue, to help turn him. :o)
I repeat: I have about $80 riding, in $20 bets, that neither bush nor Cheyney will be around for the end of their terms. They will be forced from office by a Goldwater SWAT Team.
I've already spent the money. :o)
It's 13 months until the election. All we have to do is make sure the primary season stays open, instead of having Hillary annointed like she was Pope Panzerfaust the Ist.
If we can do that, we have a real chance, an excellent chance, to put these fuckers so far back in the political wildeness that they'll have to feed them with a slingshot.

I think I need to get a passport. We WERE thinking Canada, but, now, Spain or Portugal or a Latin Country, methinks . . . . there's a life, a vibrancy that still exists, there, among THEIR lies. A life and a vibrancy that is sadly missing amongst our own lies in this country.
Good thing I never took up painting, I'd likely cut my ear off over that pic, Jesse . . . all that vibrancy . . . time for changes.
Thanks for all that's shared . . . this and Mz. R's post on similar really got to me, and brought back old memories, tastes, smells, sights and such as a boy in Saigon, Thailand, Vientienne and many villages in the hilands of the region.
Life is SO much more than this godforsakenvalleythattimeforgot . . . it's even more than the Sierra's I walked, the people I've met, the music I've loved to finally learn.

Even the so-called "moderate" ones lie.
Here in the great PNW there is a King County Councilwoman by the name of Jan Hauge. Has a rep as one of those old-school Washington Republicans of the Dan Evans/Sam Reed mold.
Unfortunately she has been convicted twice of DUI while in office and has lied about both incidents. In addition it turns out she lied about her college degree.
However it shows the sorry state of local politics that her opponent for the upcoming election in November is a gadfly and erstwhile Republican.
A serious democrat could have easily won this seat, why the local party wasn't able to field a real candidate is beyond me.
