Gravatar Language is important, and FDR has his "New Deal."

OBama should embrace the "Green Deal-- Green jobs, green technology, and green living for a greener tomorrow."

Gravatar That is exactly what Van was advocating. It was quite inspirational. When you get a chance take a look at the video on the netroots page.

Gravatar If you like Van Jones, here is another talk by him:
He gave The Ware Lecture at the Unitarian Universalist General Assembly this summer.
go to

and scroll down to Saturday June 28 and click on Ware Lecture.

Gravatar Check out http://www.apolloalliance.org/

a national info/education/policy clearinghouse on just these topics:

1. National investment in clean energy tech
2. Retool manufacturing sector to produce the tech
3. Educate workers to produce, install, operate & maintain the tech
4. Research to innovate even more green tech.

Energy, economy, education, jobs.

Sounds like a platform plank to me.

Gravatar I think he's absolutely right - but in my ex-entertainment biz kinda way, I wish we could come up with a bit of a catchier name...

Green New Deal? hmmm...
eco something?...nah, nothing with eco, I think people might not actually attribute much power to 'eco' these days as it's used so much...

Gravatar Terri -- You didn't like Green Deal?
How 'bout Green Powerment?
GreenPower Deal?
CleanAmerica Deal?
The Clean Deal?
New Deal, Green.
Green Jobs America.
Greenworks?
Green, Clean America?
Green Civics? (as in civilized....)
Growing Up Green?
Greenery? Greenerica?
Can Do Green? Can Do America?

I like GreenWorks or Green Power.

Gravatar You might appreciate Paul Hawken's 2007 book Blessed Unrest. He claims (convincingly) that social justice and environmental justice are part and parcel of one another. And the Appendix has a gazillion references for those who are looking for a place to participate.
