the thing that has impressed me most about this story so far is that it seems to have some real staying power. rudy's dismissive and rude attitude with the press has given them the feeling that there's even more to the story than meets the eye. you'd think someone, somewhere might have whispered in his ear before he said the police signed off on all of those expenditures that the cop doing the signing off is currently under indictment. . .
nah, that would take all the fun out of it.

Lectric Lady, I snorted when I read your post. I'm a 50 yr old female product of a Georgia-born Scotts/Irish Borderer (and to find out exactly why the south is so desperately f-ed up, go read "Eat, Drink, Fight, Fuck" about these lovely folk at Joe Bageant's blog. Finally recognizing Dad's side from seeing it so starkly illustrated was instructive) and a German Montanan who evolved from a Republican to a far-left lib in her life. I say I'm so white you can see my internal organs... I didn't realize for quite some time that Steve was black - just that I found this wildly intelligent, knowledgeble guy with a fierce voice I loved. I remember the day I actually realized he was black - having clicked over from Americalog (which as you know is run by Teh Gay - I am my Dad's relatives worst nightmare) during the Big Blackface Debacle, and it just gave me such a giggle. Sometimes the acorn falls waaaaay the hell away from the tree. Luckily.

I've been around long enough to remember the JFK assassination when I was a little boy. When my buddies and I were in high school -- in Berkeley, California, no less -- we watched with glee as Richard Nixon imploded. I now live in New Orleans, and have worked as a local historian, so I know about the top-level professional corruption that has long been practiced here. So I'm a politics watcher, and a pretty informed one.
I have never in my entire fucking LIFE seen anything like this Giuliani mess. It's not just the tawdriness, but the incredible assumption that he would never get called on it. That he could go national but play by local rules.
And so richly deserved!! Have you noticed his "tell" in TV interviews? He'll be asked, "But Sir, what about...?" and mid-question Rudy will give a little laugh as if to say, "Anderson, Anderson, you silly boy, with your trivial matters, all long since resolved." I'm sure he's really thinking, "SHIT!! Who the FUCK let this get through??" On with the bullshit.
The MSM is finally becoming unable to bury the story any longer, so it's coming out. But if you want to really WALLOW in it, truly enjoy the schadenfreudeliciousness of it, you have to come here.
