Gravatar "I didn't major in math, I majored in miracles."

That's probably an inaccurate quote, but the gist of it is there, and from where I sit that's more than enough to disqualify His Partial Eminence from getting anywhere within spitting distance of the White House.

Someone whose entire mentality is based on Magic Thinking in charge of the biggest military on Earth? I mean, GWB and Reagan were bad enough.

Gravatar hes reminding the money republicns that they need to take care of their shock troops. he may not be the veep choice (i expect a strong economic type that isn't an assassination threat) but he will be given a promanent position

Gravatar Oh no Wanderer...that's the quote.

SMH

And i thought we (dems) had problems.

Gravatar lord have mercy...

Gravatar yup we have..in fact we had a guy just as bad as huck as AG for a while

Gravatar Having Huck still in the race is good way to deflect criticism off of McCain. Meaning it allows McCain to still run and win the primary season in a more or less legitimate fashion. If something like "uncommitted" started beating McCain in Republican states it would be a major problem for Republicans in the general(even moreso than now) and voter participation in the rest of the primaries/caucuses would be severely slashed.

Huckabee is the safety valve for the disconcerted conservative base, especially the religious right.

I don't see how Huckabee running and winning in both Nebraska and Louisiana helps McCain in any way. I think Rachael Maddow nailed it a few minutes ago in the MSNBC coverage. She noted that she didn't think there was any hidden motives to Huckabee staying in the race. She thought rather, that since Huckabee is otherwise unemployed, he has nothing better and more exciting to do right now except stay in the race and soak up all the national adulation and attention that the campaign is providing. That rings true to me. Huckabee like all the major candidates has no doubt developed a massive following and campaign organization. And he is the center of a media whirlwind. That all vanishes the day he drops out of the race. More than all the other candidates (including Obama) he seems to love campaigning.

Personally I think Romney's dropping out and hearty endorsement of McCain a CPAC as a much more obvious angling for the VP position than Huckabee. And as Romney is the technocratic favorite of much of the Republican establishment, I think Romney in the VP position would pacify the base more than Huckabee. Given that McCain is so old, serving as his VP really is an angle for an eventual stepping up to the oval office.
