McCain'll be easier to beat, but if Romney does well next Tuesday, he'll win it, and then slide back to the center, for the general.
As long as we're not stupid enough to nominate Clinton, it won't matter WHO emerges from team-troll. In the general they'll all be sacrificial goats, as Iraq and the economy kick in.

McCain versus Obama would offer an amazing contrast during the debates. A vibrant young man and an extremely old man vying for the leadership role.
The Clinton vrs. McCain would be old versus older. The real problem will be that fired up Republicans who would normally sit on thier hands for McCain will all of sudden become a factor.

And, sorta OT, H'aaretz, one of the two largest Israeli newspapers, rates all of the candidates, dem and repub, for how Israel-friendly they are, with Rudy gettin 8.37 on a scale of "10", and Hillary coming second with 7.62, in case anyone's concerned about the Iraeli tail wagging the american dog.
I said "all", but Ron Paul was considered irrelevant.
Obama's at the bottom, with a 5 rating, but he's been working hard to prove he's user-friendly to the Tel Aviv government, too, and in this piece from AW.com, they point out that his mid-east adviser, Dennis Ross, is a "distinguished fellow" at the "Washington Institute for Near East Policy" (WINEP) which was founded by...taaadaaa...AIPAC. He's also a middle-east analyst for Faux.
He's a former State Dept official who was the key negotiator between Palestinians and Israelis, under Bill Clinton.
It's a good, snarky, little piece.
