Gravatar Wonderful speech. And it is my greatest hope that we can moved together as a democratic family to restoring sanity in our government.

time.to.get.to.work.

Gravatar I agree.

Best speech I've ever heard her give.

Amazing. Just amazing.

Now, UNITY, and on to November.

Gravatar in the wise and very human words of lincoln to his main generals grant, and sherman regarding surrender terms and the treatment of the south.

let 'em up easy.

it's hard sometimes to see when the choice was so clear to me, but there were many people of very good faith and heart who supported senator clinton.

the election was very close. eyelash close. only a hubristic son of a bitch like george w. bush could look at these stats and claim mandate or capital. senator clinton, and the people who brought so close to victory and so far along the road must be reckoned with. they earned their place in the discussion, and their seat at any table.

let 'em up easy.

Gravatar I have to say, this was a great speech It was positive, genuine, and (at long last) discussing identity politics as she should have all along:

"You can be so proud that, from now on, it will be unremarkable for a
woman to win primary state victories, unremarkable to have a woman in
a close race to be our nominee, unremarkable to think that a woman can
be the President of the United States. And that is truly remarkable."

Unremarkable for a woman, for an African American, for ANY American to do these things. "Un-re-markable." That's the post-Boomer version of identity politics, and I'm glad to see that she finally articulated it.

Gravatar I got all teary eyed listening to her thinking how I would feel, working this hard for something this important and then having to do this speech.

She did good, real good.

Gravatar She finally did it. Good for her.

Gravatar it was a good first step...now she nneds to activly denounce the racist that are useing her name for cover, so e of them where her "valued supporters" very recently

Gravatar If she gives up the delegates now I'll listen to what she has to say.

Don't tell me she doesn't have people digging for dirt or manufacturing the same in the hope that she can stage a return.

Gravatar I give her credit for doing what needed to be done. Thank you Hillary for finally ending it.

Had she spoken with that tone and tenor from the beginning, she may well have won. But, its not who she is, its not her campaigning self. There wasn't really a trace of the victim/contempt in her performance. Glad to see. Very relieved for her and her supporters that she gave them the respect they deserve. Glad she finally came out and lead them to the reality of the day.

And she gave Obama the respect he deserves, however hard it was to chomp down on that bullet, she did it. She did it well, too. Her face did seemed pained at times but her annoyance did not come through and negate her words. She did seem sincere.

I will never think of her as some great American icon, feminist or otherwise, but on Saturday Hillary Clinton showed us her higher self exists. She's more effective coming from that place. I hope she visits there more often.

Gravatar She gave a better speech than 99.9 percent of male candidates have ever given; now will you assholes who keep dissing her sTFU and focus on healing the united states of america from the absolute BS that the right wing and the Rethug party has been vomiting out for the past 8 years? We need change, not more sexist BS about this very wise and strong woman who has shown she's better than most of the male politicians out there.

And, for those who are hissing about Obama being young and inexperrienced... he has more smarts and experience than Dubya did coming in to the game...

but hey... if you're a stupid AWOL Rethug with no experience, it's OKAYYYY... you can still be preznit...

if you're a black, experienced, highly educated and articulate man, it's NOT okay...

and if you're a woman.. .it's not only NO, it's HELL no... apparently.

Gravatar No personal attacks please.

It's okay to be upset, but no taking it out on individuals who post or comment here, even indirectly.

Thank you.

Gravatar and if you're a woman.. .it's not only NO, it's HELL no... apparently.

dejah - Actually, it's nothing to do with her being a woman. It's more than anything on earth having to do with her being a Clinton. We've already been there, done that. Time to move along. That was her first major misjudgement. Second, it also had to do with her lack of planning, lack of management, lack of focus, and lack of funds. Straight up, it was a badly run campaign.

On a personal level for me, as a woman, I found it entirely offensive that she claimed her husband's experience as her own and somehow this was acceptable to women everywhere. Oh. Well, shit, I really messed up THAT opportunity to fucking marry well rather than get it for myself on my own. My very own credentials.... I really fucked that up, huh. Wow, I don't know what the hell MY Dad was talking about telling ME I could be anything I wanted to be. Damn, shoulda went old school and just freaking married well. Silly fucking me.

So, dejah, feel free to abuse other women in your disspointment. I honestly DO feel very badly for the women who she exploited in this identity politics game she played here. She DID give a good speech and I can only hope she continues in this vein. I hope.

Gravatar Big Whoop.

Gravatar had she spoken like this on the campaign trail, and not become a petty little bitch...she probably wins walking away

and amazing that she got more people to show up to a concession speech than mccain got to show up in la

Gravatar With this speech Hillary opened her campaign for 2012. She is hoping that Barack loses, but by working very hard for him she is trying to insure that she will not be blamed if he goes down in flames.
A victory by Obama would effectively end the Clinton era. No way Hillary and Bill are in favor of that!!! So I am not joining the throngs acclaiming this as a great speech. It's a trojan horse.
