I am still in shock. Yesterday, Jeff Merkley was finally declared the winner. Today, Darcy loses.
Her district experienced a loss today, one they may not fully appreciate now. They had a chance to be well-represented by someone who would have been both their champion and a role model of integrity and ingenuity.
Darcy has made an impression that goes beyond her campaign.
And there are those that feel badly that the newspaper industry is going under...

So in preparing this dish, ask yourself a simple question: "How can we put the Seattle Times out of business?"

My first job after returning to the US from the Peace Corps was with the Seattle Times in their business office back in 1989. First thing I discovered was that the Blethen family that owns the Times are useless parasites. Their one and only big issue is repeal of the estate tax so they can perpetuate their wealth generation after generation never paying taxes. I'm guessing that is whey they pulled this lie about Darcy.
May they bleed red ink until they die.
What a sad loss. Never liked the Seattle Times. What a rag. Now, I hope you folks out there can put them out of business. And perhaps there can be both state and federal election investigation into what looks like some illegal campaigning.

Yes, I think the Obama administration should be able to find a place for someone with her talents.
With her background in economics and technology, perhaps a high-ranking position in the Commerce Dept.

although pelosi isn't exactly an attack dog, with the numbers behind her she should certainly be able to ram some stuff down their throats. (like repeal the odious Defense of Marriage Act, it's a stinking piece of shit that spoils the ambiance of the room)

I haven't lived there in a while, actually I've been an expat ever since "The Worst President Ever" came into office.
But there's been a battle between the newspapers in Seattle (one of the few big cities to still have two). I'm obviously out of date on what been going on but the Seattle Times were the bullies in the 90's.
Of course there's always The Stranger, one of the better US weeklies.

B) Twice young people came to my door representing Darcy Burner. They did not want to speak to me, only my wife. Next time you run as a representative try representing all, not just those of your sex.
C) Having worked at Microsoft and graduated from Harvard doesn't mean that much. It's a nice resume but if that's a big part of your pitch (as it appeared to be), it just amplifies your inexperience in government and/or public service.
D) Try winning at the local or state level. Show people you can make a difference and that you're effective as a legislator.

There is NO evidence of this at all, in fact Darcy was one of the few folks Barack took time out for to endorse. AND in the waning hours of the campaign he had his phone bankers from more safe states calling for Darcy.
I know people are disappointed. But let's not dive so quickly into the age old Dem Circular Firing squad. Now is our time to enjoy watching the Rethugs do that.
Darcy will be back. She is a fighter, and has a big heart. She'll find a way.

Same thing could have been said about the beloved Obama. I didn't vote for him but i FULLY support him now and hope he kicks ass. You whiners should try doing that sometime: quit being friction; part of the problem. USE THE FORCE FOR GOOD. hehe.
Im curious though as to why most of you all (were) for a candidate that had squat for credentials. Really all she had was a degree from a university that has been known lately for remarkably diluted/dubious standards.

Eggworld, the campaign listed you either as persuaded (they were pretty sure you would vote for Burner) or unpersuadable. That's why your wife appeared on the walk list, and your name didn't.
Just for your own education, I recommend that you volunteer to canvass door-to-door for a political campaign in two or four years and see how it's done. You'll end up being less self-righteous about canvassing tactics, which is kind of a strange thing to get worked up about.

There were a lot of false stories planted about Barack Obama. He managed to overcome many more than the one story that confronted Darcy Burner. Any politician is going to face misleading stories about them from their opponent. A good candidate is able to overcome these stories or laugh them off.
We know how Republicans work. They will misconstrue any little thing you say even if they know what you meant. Darcy should not have given her opponents anywhere to go. Her sloppiness created a big opening for Dave Reichert. She can blame herself for saying she had a "degree in economics from (drumroll, please) Harvard."
Also, it is a little too easy to blame Darcy losing this race on the Seattle Times. I don't know anyone who even reads that paper. Isn't that paper on life support? I thought most people gave up on that paper a long time ago.
