jesse,
Thanks for this. I've missed John all week - and truthfully, I'm sure my wife is happy I missed this one live because I would have woken her with a broken TV.
Too bad John did not call Athenae to the studio for this interview.
Feith continues his delusional and self-serving defense. Sad and pathetic actually. The guy is a criminal and deserves the ill karma he's sown. I for one will greatly enjoy the schauenfrade when Feith gets the public criminal trial he so richly deserves.
What a f*cking tool!
SP
Actually, maybe the best use of Douggie is to have President Obama (or Clinton) name him as the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq.

C'mon, Jon Stewart isn't a serious journalist. For crissake, he didn't even ask Feith the obvious question:
"Sir, you claim to be a patriot, but where is your flag pin?"
Seriously, Feith really doesn't present his position well. I've seen better arguments coming from college freshmen trying to argue themselves up from a C to an A grade on a paper. Lots of double talk and weasel words and fumbling for excuses, peppered with the same old BS. He isn't even particularly articulate. How is what you saw in any way "presenting his position well"?
I also have to give a lot of credit to Stewart here, because I can tell how fucking pissed off he is with this lying propagandist. Even taking Feith apart, he showed extraordinary self restraint.

Yeah, Stewart's really stretching himself going after the "stupidest guy on the planet."
I thought he made a point of never going after his guests unless they were members of the media?
Stewart got in the habit of stroking GOP plants during the writers' strike and hasn't much let up since.
Feith is small potatoes. Stewart lets the big fish---Greenspan, McCain, Lynne Cheney, McAulliffe, Reid, Brian Williams---always swim away easily.

Stewart lets the big fish---Greenspan, McCain, Lynne Cheney, McAulliffe, Reid, Brian Williams---always swim away easily.
And they'll come back to the show.
Makes me wonder if Jon is following the old wisdom - "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

Jon Stewart politely and gently reamed Douglas Feith and got the last word.
Nice.
BTW, Mr. Feith should talk to his therapist about his slippery grasp on reality.

there is something very wrong witha society that has to rely on a COMEDIAN on a FAKE news program to exposes slime like Fith.

Know Your Enemy: these folks have gone beyond caring whether their fairy-stories are well-told. What matters is that they get to tell them, that they produce a (however remotely plausible) narrative chain, & that they hold positions of authority whilst they tell them. Experience has shown them that this is a magic formula for success, as enough people either assent or have doubts lurking behind their dissent for them to claim a mandate. Shame requires a conscience, & those of them who weren't sociopaths to start with have become sociopathic from the heady drug that is power. As long as enough of the populace are True Believers, Feith & his ilk can quietly retire in luxury & comfort, perhaps even buying their own snake-oil about "mistakes" as they give lectures & write books for their flock.
Moonglum nails it - when you're turning to the jester for news & insight, your Town Crier is useless, as if seeing him having lunch with the Emperor hadn't already spelled that out. But I'm afraid the only substantial outcome from this interview is that a few more folks will buy the book that Feith is pimping or waste their time reading it at a library, thinking that such crass apologia will make them into well-informed citizens.

I doubt it. Liberals and progressives already know he's a liar, and at the end of the interview Stewart made it clear to everyone else that it's one boring slog of a book (how often do you see an interviewer do that to a guest author's face?). The only people reading it will be those who've already drunk the neoconservative Kool-Aid, and perhaps officers of the International Court of Justice and skeptical future historians.

Sorry for the OT, but if you haven't already seen it, Edwards has (finally) endorsed Big O:

Jesse, sorry for the OT, but John Edwards just came out for Obama.
Earlier today, 3 former heads of the SEC, including one appointed by Bubba-:o)...endorsed Obama, AND, NARAL, the pro-choice women's group that has supported Hillary Clinton all of her political life, just broke for Obama.
Looks like a bandwagon, to me. :o)

Sorry, Seitan, I was fired up. Didn't see it. :o)
Hey, John D.; better late than never, huh? :o)
On a more serious note, I have an idea that Elizabeth might have been, straight-up, for Hillary.
But, the NARAL endorsement might be enough to end it.
"As for Douglas Feith...ugh, what can you say?"
You can say what General Barney Franks said. :o)

"General Barney Franks"? I guess the Pentagon's quietly ditched that whole no-gays-in-the-military thing, then.
How amazingly progressive of them, to have let the Congressman rise through the ranks that quickly!

Is there some sort of shelf-life for those embedded videos? I've tried to play them in both IE and Firefox and, while the Flash plugin seems slightly more functional in Firefox, all I ever get is about ten minutes of "Loading" or "Buffering" followed by the end "Play Again?" graphic.

What a lying sack of shit. He still can't admit ANYTHING. From him, the whole argument is that "We failed because we cared too much."
He lies when he says that Iraq was the next step, because they spent all this time yelling how Iraq was the instigator.
AND WHERE THE FUCK IS OSAMA BIN LADEN!!!??!
5 fucking years later 4200+ dead, and they still have no fucking clue.
This interview would have gone a LOT better if Jon had just spent the time beating this guy in the head with a baseball bat, while conducting the interview.
Because that wouldn't be torture, right?
