I like stories where a Number Two steps out of the shadow of a Number One and does surprisingly well. Hope this turns out to be one of those stories.
And by his shout-out to the lobbyists named the unspoken shadow of our political system: The politicians are whores and the lobbyists/corporations throw around money for favors.
From everything I've read about him, Patterson seems awesome. Fate works in strange ways sometimes.
Color me impressed so far.

St. McCain could answer the same way. But from him it would be more honesty than a joke. 
(BTW, notice how the MSM has swept that story under the rug. Think they'd do the same for a Dem?)
Seriously, I like Paterson on the basis of that joke alone. It probably gave Joe Bruno conniptions just to hear it.
The corporate has been and always will be in the bag for McCain come November. I'm interested to see how they handle Paterson.

You might want to look at this piece in the Times. The author, who like Paterson is functionally but not totally blind, writes about how blind people compensate for their disability. You have to develop a sharp and detailed memory, you have to get very good at "reading" the character of the people you talk to, and you have to be very, very patient. Also, in my experience, and I grew up around blind people, you tend to get underestimated, as people tend to think unconsciously that anyone who needs a little help just to get around in the world can't be all that bright.
An executive with those qualities is nobody to take lightly. Watch out, Albany.

Whether or not we think that Spitzer being outed for his whoring around is "ill" or not, the fact that a black man, and one who is legally blind, is about to become the governor of New York, is righteous to me. :o)
