One of the first images I remember from the start of this murder spree was of Ali Ismail Abbas, the young boy who lost his family and both his arms after one of our bombs hit their house. Just one of the reasons I'm an active member of Veterans For Peace.

War is the enemy.

Gravatar "Fuck war.

Killing is wrong."

You get no argument from me on that, Jesse. The question is how to stop our elected leaders (yeah, we may as well take responsibility for them) without doing something extreme?

Gravatar Thank you for caring. Yes you were making a point but just to be clear anything we write is free for taking in its entirety we ask that people name the source but its more important to us that the information get out.

The Iraki contingent are going on semi-hiatus for a few weeks - they are all feeling pretty shattered since the brother of one of them was killed, and also getting fuel for the generators is getting difficult. They'll keep posting just that it will be a lot lighter than normal.

Erdla.

Gravatar Absolutely this needs to get out... but copying 5 days of entries?

It's just a mouse click away, you know what I'm saying? Build on it, add to it, increase it's effectiveness, contextualize it, place it in historical context (aka our little Philippine adventure -- pre WW1).

What would Gilly do?

Gravatar ceabaird I read steves stuff from his beginning online...steve would have whole sale cut and pasted the articla...we would have been lucky to get any comments...he tended to eb lazy that way.

Gravatar I remember markfromireland, the commenter at Steve's blog referring to this site. From the first time he mentioned it, I've been reading and passing on the link where I can. The trouble happens when you meet someone who insists, from the comfort of their desk, that it 'isn't as bad as all that'. That was the first time I said the f**k word in front of my colleagues. Do they think people make these things up???

What is it with those people who absolutely refuse to acknowledge the atrocity of this war done in their name?

Gravatar Iraq is where the myth of American exceptionalism finally met its well-deserved end. Anyone who thinks our actions there aren't running up huge reserves of bad karma is going to be in for one hell of a rude awakening.

It looks as if -- despite some confident predictions made in these threads a few days ago -- the Mahdi Army isn't quite the disorganized rabble it was made out to be.

Gravatar A stupid question, but what does GZG stand for?

Gravatar Sadie ... GZG stands for "Green Zone Government" (as in puppet government created by the US occupation and hiding in the Green Zone)

Good to see Erdla from the team in comment above - the GorillasGuides team is incredibly generous with their knowledge and work.

Gravatar I looked extensively for copyright notices before doing what I did.

Then I wrote what I was doing up front, and was prepared to take it down if the copyright holder objected.

I also weighed carefully everything from the opportunity to teach progressives -- whom hopefully might possibly be reached by this material -- against the damage to the copyright holder, against the legal rights to make even multiple full copies of entire chapters of books for classrooms (which in effect, was what the analogy is here.)

I spent perhaps sixty minutes with the decision. It was anything but casual.

Having Erdla validate both the decision in its heart -- Thank you for caring. ...we ask that people name the source but its more important to us that the information get out. -- and in my methods, is deeply gratifying.
