Gravatar Yeah, fuck the fucking Patriots! What a thriller!
I guess Steve would have loved it. Well, maybe he even saw that game...

Gravatar And the very best game of 42 Super Bowls...just a great matchup from the first quarter on.

Gravatar Best "warring corporations contest" ever! Loved every minute of it.

Ol' Tom and his staff put in a hell of a game plan, and Eli done good, and the Giants' defense played stones; I mean, STONES!

:o)

Gravatar This pass by Manning, when he unbelievably escaped being sacked, was extraterrestrial. And then Tyree even managed to grab the ball, with one hand and his helmet! Coolest football action I've ever seen (ok, ok, here in germany, we don't see so many football games).
:D

Gravatar That was stunning. I mean, effing stunning.

To anyone who ever throws shite at Mr. Manning again (and let me be the first to say that I have sometimes questioned his quarterbacking judgment) - let them answer this: could you have led your team down the field, from your own 17-yard line, with 2 minutes, 40-plus seconds on the clock, in any ol' damn game?

Huh? Could you?

Now try it in the f*cking Super Bowl!

And, as we've all seen, he did.

Well played, Eli.

And to the offensive and defensive lines (who really won the game) and hearty kudos.

Gravatar "This pass by Manning, when he unbelievably escaped being sacked, was extraterrestrial. And then Tyree even managed to grab the ball, with one hand and his helmet!"

Yes, that had to be the play of the game! I only watch the occasional big game -- not really a fan -- so I was mostly watching this one out of the corner of my eye. But that play under *huge* pressure got me excited.

Gravatar Wow! What a fun game to watch (for once)!

A Major Green Bay Packers Fan lifts a good Wisconsin Micro-brew to all you Giants fans.

Enjoy! and I can't wait to hear all the NEW Eli stories here.

Gravatar The lesser Manning was more- in accordance with the prophecy.

Gravatar Awesome. How great was it to see that sloped-foreheaded cro-magnon Brady all pissed off? Hey, Belichick: steal this, asshole.

I've never been a football fan before, but hi-def changes the game considerably. A great, great clutch performance. Almost as poetic as baseball.

Gravatar I'm so damn Happy.

My Football season was HORRIBLE!

I'm not a fan of either team but damnit I wanted the Patriots to lose SOOOOO BADLY!!!!!

And by golly the "lesser Manning" did it!!!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!

Gravatar Of course, Steve saw the game. :>

So did the rest of the world. And they saw the Giants kick the Patriots' ass. The same Patriots who declared that anything less than 19-0 would be a defeat.

Icing on the cake? Belihchek's refusal to return to play the final play of the game.

Gravatar Better hold on to that jersey...

Gravatar will some of that jersey luck work this tues?

Gravatar Hub...

You damn right I am!

And as to Belichick's “dick move” (Neil Patrick Harris classic line in “Harold & Kumar”) in stomping across the field and not finishing things out...it was fully expected. He is renowned as one of the worst losers not just in football, but in all of sports.

Just a fucking jerk, and he totally showed his ass tonight.

I hope when he kicks at an unsuspecting pigeon on a Foxboro street tomorrow, he pulls his hammy so bad it drags the Goddamned ground. (And yes, I've hated the anti-social lout since his Giants and then Jets-sandbagging days)

Gravatar Belicheat is the biggest douchebag in the history of sport.

What a fuckwad.

Schadenfreude, schadenfreude, schadenfreude.

Fuck the Patriots!

Schadenfreude, schadenfreude, schadenfreude.

Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go!!!

Gravatar I think that one was for Steve.

Neeeewwwww Yaaaawwwwwk!!!

Gravatar Watch and laugh...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=OEU1GhGxgg

I've said it before and I'll say it again--the guy who got the Browns run out of Cleveland + Brian Greise's waterboy at Michigan = alltime greatness???

Fuck that.

Gravatar Link's not working.

Search "Shady Brady and Bill Belicheat" on youtube and laugh, laugh, laugh.

Gravatar http://youtube.com/watch?v=OEU1G-hGxgg

This might work...

Gravatar Nope. But give it a search.

It's worth it.

Gravatar I really hate these guys...from a previous post:

Most of us hate Brady because he’s a cheater.

The coach who got the Browns run out of Cleveland meets Brian Greise’s waterboy from Michigan. All-time greatness ensues?

I’m not buying that bullshit.

Shady Brady and Belicheat got together on a little cheating scam. The Hoodie knew there was no way a pro like Drew Bledsoe would go along with his little signal-stealing scheme, so as soon as Bledsoe was hurt Brady was in for good. You seriously think Belicheat was such a prophet he would pick a no-name chump like Brady over a veteran Super Bowl QB without a concrete reason? If the rest of us had hunches like that we’d be World Series of Poker champions fifty times over.

Ever notice how those Pats teams always seemed to be down at halftime and needed a last second field goal to win?

That’s because they sucked until the cheating staff made its video presentation at halftime, instructing Shady on recognizing the oppposition’s blitz signals so he could check off into proper protection or audible into a play that wasn’t vulnerable to the particular blitz package being called.

I’ll admit that after they got caught this season it was whoop-ass all the way, but that’s only because they finally gave Shady some weapons and a running game (and don’t give me Corey Dillon–that guy disappeared in big games). This season, they’re legit.

The previous three? Three dollar bill credibility.

BTW, the Bradshaw haters need to STFU. Fourth all-time in Super Bowl passer rating among QB’s with 2 or more starts (112. with the highest gain per attempt (11.1 YPA) and touchdown percentage (10.7 TD%) among same.

Higher than Brady, higher than Aikman, higher than Favre, higher than Elway.

One out of every ten attempts went for 10+ yards or a touchdown.

Not to mention not having shit teams like the ‘90 Broncos or ‘94 Chargers to beat up on.

The only QB in the conversation with Bradshaw as far as big game clutch performances is Montana. Period

Gravatar THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!

Gravatar Damn straight about Montana.

I hated the Patriots for their arrogance and cheating. But I really got worked up over hearing how Brady was better than Montana.

That was the freaking last straw.

Gravatar Ahhh, Cath, as a Santa Cruzan for 17 years, we have a little something in common. Walsh, Joe, and the 'niners' changed the NFL, and for the better. :o)

It was nice to see the tribute to Bill. :o)

Gravatar BTW, did I see Jessica Simpson, the quarterback Jonah, up in a skybox?

:o)

Gravatar Proof once again that there are few things more formidable than a team who really wants a title. I was the only person in my family who bet on New York because I figured the latter were _hungry._ And I was right. (cue "Ya Gotta Have Heart...") Yay, Giants!

Gravatar >BTW, did I see Jessica Simpson, the quarterback Jonah, up in a skybox?<

Dunno. But I could have swore I heard Bridget Moynihan out there somewhere laughing like a fiend...

Gravatar Hey, LM--were you able to make your deadlines...or was this game just too good?

Gravatar I loved that game, especially the look of frustration on Brady's face as he walked off the field. Belichick's a fucking sore loser, but this was one game he couldn't cheat at.

Gravatar Somewhere, Bill Simmons is crying his widdle eyes out. That makes me very, very happy.

Gravatar From up here in Boston, it's damn great to have had those arrogant, cheating bullies get their asses kicked. The feeling here has been exactly opposite from that of the Red Sox wins - no spirit, no uplifting, no unity. It's been "we're gods and we deign to show up at the game to toy with our inferiors". All the fans that had 19-0 tattooed on their chests are now seeking plastic surgery. Boo hoo.

Gravatar I was the only person in my family who bet on New York because I figured the latter were _hungry"

How where the quotes against the Giants? 5:1, 10:1? How much money did you make?

Tanbark we have more than a little in common. One, good taste in blogs. Two, a passion for our politics.

Here's to the end of the primary season.

Gravatar You mean there were actually morons who had 90-0 TATTOOED on themselves? Then they deserve the pain just for their hubris.

Gravatar whoo hoo the cheaters fail in the end....and yes they are cheaters...every fuckign game, every fucking paly...watch the aptriots, on every tackle they are kickign the guy in the head and groin, on every play they hold....the was the first game of theirs I watched all season that the refs called fairly. I also have to believe that the giants had extra security around their practices...if the boston glob stuff is true bleicheck is doen as a coahc and at least oen of their prior superbowl wins should be stripped. (they where filimign the private walkthrough of their opponetes, got the entire PRIVATE redzone practice of the rams on tape before that superbolw....ever wonder why the rams had so much trouble scoring...its cause that patriots cheat early and often.)

good for the giants.

my only complainit. how the FUCK did ely turn into a qb while i am stuck with rex???? the ywhere the same guy...the same guy. how the fuck dose ely manning...ely....folds under preshure ely pull of the greatest play in superbowl history...

Gravatar As a very, very happy Giants fan, the thing that stood out most for me was that this was an old-fashioned Giants defensive beatdown reminiscent of (and on par with) the great D's of Giants past, particularly those LT-led teams of the '80s and early '90s. I think the first play, when 2 D-Linemen put Brady on his back, set the tone. The whole season, the Patriots were used to having their way with teams, offensively, and it seemed they couldn't handle it when a team (one that they were supposed to crush, no less) wasn't awed by them, and in fact had the temerity to get into their faces and rattle them. The Giants did what they had to do; stuff the run, and keep Brady off-balance, and Eli then directed the greatest Super Bowl-winning drive since the '88 49ers, after playing a nearly flawless game. Some really clutch catches from many receivers all around didn't hurt either; Burress, Toomer, Smith, and Boss all came up huge in the final quarter.

It was obvious (or should have been) to all that the Pats were in for a real fight after the first 10-minute drive, and the first knockdown of Brady.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving coach (on both sides) too.

Again, taking nothing away from Eli and the excellent and clutch Giants offense, this was a classic Giants defensive performance for the ages; one on par with the Super Bowl runs of the '86 and '90 Giants. It's fitting that it happened to cap the same season in which Harry Carson was finally inducted into the hall of fame.

Gravatar An auspicious start fir the year. Democrats take heart for November

Gravatar The Giants victory will be pyrrhic if face time at the ticker tape victory parade revives Bloomie’s vanity campaign for president.

Gravatar I was mousing away on a Photoshop task during the final drive for the Pats when I heard Mrs. LM go “Oh my God!”. I snapped my eyes over to see the replay of the Giants lineman Jay Alford Mack-trucking his way through the Pats line and blasting Tom Brady off his feet—dead in his chest and onto his back.

THAT was an old-school sack. Not the pitty-pat drag a guy down shit we see nowadays, but an old-school, solar-plexus blast.

Reminded me of a vicious sack the old Falcons “Grits Blitz” put on the Cowboys Staubach in '78 I think it was.

“BOOM!” In your chest, off your feet, and on yo' ass.

Just straight smash-mouth football.

Loved it.

Gravatar Is that you? Nice guns!

Gravatar Oh hell...

Yeah, that's me.

Gravatar Steve had to have a front row seat for this upstairs right next to my dad who took me to Yankee Stadium to see the 'Gints in the Tarkenton days.

LM has his lucky jersey, I had to make my own mojo:

We put up a 12ft wide security fence of pre-fab wood this fall & I've spent the winter slapping on multiple layers of "oops paint" & listening to the Giants' run on my headphones. 2 weeks ago I figured I had strata enough of loud awful paint & I could finally lay down a top coat of Superman blue Behr paint.

[i live in a historic district & wanted the finished fence to have that distressed look of a century-old piece -- the Behr brand is great for that since it's so shitty that it looks naturally distressed in no time.]

I started painting just as the Green Bay game started. The Giants yet again were underdogs & I figured it's time to throw some mojo their way -- I painted the ny logo on one side & by the time I'd overpainted it Brett Favre was gettin generous with the ball.

Yesterday I figured would require a more refined brand of mojo so I darkened the blue to match the Giants jersey & again didn't put brush to surface until the coin toss.

I was finished by halftime; the Patsies were done a little later : )

... fence looks good too, in a distressing kind of way.

Gravatar Infodog...

...you just cracked me the fuck up with that fence story!

Hilarious1

Gravatar >It's been "we're gods and we deign to show up at the game to toy with our inferiors".<

Hee. So the Patriots are Boston's Yankees? LOL!! ("Paging Mr. Gilliard! Please pick up at the Afterlife courtesy desk..." )

Gravatar It was the red flag, of trickery, Belichick threw. All season he was known for — games — icing the kicker became an art with him. But, after they got that second set of downs after the flag, Fox's beautiful coverage showed both teams huddling. In the background to the Pats, you saw the Giants throw down the gauntlet. There was a coming together, everybody got on the same page, and turned up the heat. The Pats got 4 more downs, but nothing else. The Eagles had the Pats. Then went into prevent. The same for the Ravens, and Jags. But the red flag took prevent off the table for the Giants.
