I'm seeing more and more of this - not quite as over the top as Fritz here, but I saw something today that just gobsmacked me.
I had to drive through Falmouth Foreside, Maine today - I live just south of there and was headed to a nursery. "The Foreside" as it is known is old, old money. Not McMansions - these are estates, many of which are past the century mark; some of which are nearing the two century mark. The general store has caviar, and two Mercedes, a Jag and a Bentley parked put front. We're talking Newport, but year-round. And what did I see, driving through Falmouth Foreside today? Four - count 'em - FOUR "IMPEACH" signs driven into the perfectly kept yards - wait, those aren't yards, they are 'grounds.' One of the Mercs at the store had a "W" sticker - the one in the red circle with the line through it. The Jag had one of those "1/20/09" stickers. Hell, I just drove through on the main road (Rt 8
- didn't take any side roads, and it looked to me like the Foreside has gone bright, clear, ceruleon blue. I guess you have to live here to understand the significance. I s'pose I need to make a little trip down to Kennebunkport... I'm betting it is starting to look a tad blue these days, too...

I say "fuck" and don't apologize for saying "fuck." My wife doesn't like it when I say "fuck" but fuck that.
But I don't say it in front of my autistic toddlers and would particularly not want Sam to start reading such a van if I stopped off at the Safeway with him to buy bread and juice. More to avoid him scandalizing his mother and the rest of the Sunday School class.
Then again, Sam does not yet know that Republicans exist so perhaps when he does, I will have to teach him that day how to say and spell the words "stupid motherfucker." The Sunday School class will simply have to deal with it.

Wow. It was my understanding that most buildings built prior to the 1890's don't accomodate modern plumbing, heating, and electrical systems very well. But then again, if you've got money to burn, you can make damn near anything work, I suppose.
