Gravatar sipping a latte and celebrating while I contemplate my next body piercing.

Gravatar Woot... my Obama Hypno-toad (Futurama reference) has assured me it will be a good night for us pod people.

Gravatar LOL-- amusenic, watch out, the intervention is coming.

Gravatar I sure wanted to see the O man tonight at the Kohl Center, but the snow and extremely cold conditions, as well as stress have contributed to my saying, "No way, Jose..." and huddling in bed with a cup of tea infused with lemons.

I am proud of him, but I will be even more proud when he wins Ohio, Hawaii, and Texas...and when he becomes president.

Gravatar This is a terrible loss for Hillary according to the exit polls. She isn't carrying her "traditional" groups.

Gravatar Thanks for the sanity and the laugh Hubris.

Gravatar *cracks up*

Hmmmm... I notice three of us have disclaimers up, and you don't Hubris. Interesting.

Gravatar the disclaimers are stupid. but I hope we are not heading into a fight on the masthead.

Gravatar Per Jesse Wendel, I noticed that too. So is the blog taking a position or isn't it? 'Cause right now it's reading like pro-Hillary anti-Obama pretty clearly.

BTW Jesse, how much should I care that the Obama campain is showing insufficient servility towards the press? I think most of the press needs some more disrespect.

Gravatar Talking Points Memo says VA has 29% of precincts reporting, with Obama 63%, Clinton 36%.

29% is not when I personally would call a race done, but it's not exactly the Magic 8-Ball either.

Gravatar 30 points is a fucking massacre.

Gravatar Those damn disclosures are annoying as hell. Folks writing is pretty indicative of where they stand whether they claim otherwise or not.

And I find it pretty arrogant that folk think there choice would influence the readers choice on the site.

Anyway Hubris Sonic if you put a disclosure on your post I'd laugh...in much of the same way I laughed when I saw lowerManhattanites...

Jesse...SMH

But GOOO OBAMA

Where's my man Tanbark...you didn't really ban him did u?

Gravatar Yeah, it's old, but I guess Chelsea must be on notice for 72/7 robo-calling.

Gravatar i would hesitate to call bias when faced with honest reporting. had the obama folks treated jesse better, had obama gone into the messy details and specific items of his agenda i am certain jesse would have said that.

i am still up in the air. i will, with no hesitation, support and vote for the democratic nominee of the party. period. protest votes and staying home are out of the question with me. here's the deal though. i'm a professional musician in california, we've had our primary. i voted for obama, but next week, i am playing a fundraising benefit for hillary clinton. it's at the personal request of the organizer and headliner of the event. i'm charging scale. but i might kick in to the level of only keeping back my expenses.

bias? because he didn't blindly agree with you? because he's skeptical and writes about his nuts and bolts impressions? sorry. no bias seen here.

Gravatar he jesse im adding my email so you can threaten me as well..ill happly join Tanbark....at least HS dosnt' fell the need to lie about his position.

please aplogise for hillaries FISA position...i need a good laugh

Gravatar let's go back to being nice? maybe?
I have a cold, fever and sinus infection and the cult of personality thread is likely to kill me.

i luv everyone...
but gators do bite at times

Gravatar Oh yeah... Hillary was too busy "taking care of the press -- as they deserve" rather than show up to vote on FISA.

I wonder what that means? I'm sure it's all part of her experience shining through.

Gravatar gator I am done being nice....FISA did that for me, the DLC throwing us under the bus did that for me...it is indifensable....but hey the pluse side is it proved me right.

then again there are a few exAVP's from the number 2 bank in the world..a dozen or so unemployed accenture and ibm consultants and an army of peons that learnd the hard way that I am allways fucking right.

see unlike jesse I do my home work..i don't claim that someone is waek on positions unless i have read their positions. I allso base my opinions on actions not words.

obamas actions have allways shown me that he was on my side..hillary has allways shown me that she was a copratist...the FISA thing dosn't suprise me I hope you frogs can relise the mistake of lettign the scorpion on your back

Gravatar he did go back to dc to vote against fisa.
yea!

Gravatar gator I am done being nice....FISA did that for me, the DLC throwing us under the bus did that for me...it is indifensable....but hey the pluse side is it proved me right.

Preach it Brotha!!!!

http://www.brownsugar28.blogspot.com

Gravatar No! No! No! No more bickering! I come here to avoid all that bs on another site that I frequent. I don't care who you support, just be sure to vote in November (I'm fairly certain of your leaning because you're here).

Go Obama!

Go Hillary!

But like the Lil' Gator said - be nice, respectful and pull up on the garbage.

Otherwise... Yay!!! Barack is snatching up VA!

Gravatar plus I am sick, and need chicken soup for the soul. I need a new nose and sinuses... anyone ave a spare set?

Gravatar I am very worried about the future of the world if Obama is elected.

I was married to a charismatic personality. Not good. We are looking at another nazi type reign. I do not mean to imply this with out a feeling of intuition and gut rotting despair.

Look how he can mezmorize his followers. Think about other leaders that have lead his followers to dismay. Please realize that when normal politicians share their view, they explain it in black and white, Obama uses contrast of good vs bad, or the right way and the wrong way, in his own version.

I do not know if you can understand what I mean without my writing sounding horrible, I sure do not mean it that way.

I think if we really analyze Obama in a way that we look past the great speeches, to what he believes in and what he plans to accomplish.

Obama scares me when he says he wants to change the United States status quo. The fathers who framed the constitution put together the laws and rules of law to follow. so as to prevent a KING who needs to change our way of freedom.

His pholosophies are large and inpiring, but in reality, hard for the average follower to fulfill with the economy and other variables normal people are accustomed to.

Not to say he will not inspire many, he will. I worry what happens when he changes the status quo; civil wars and more.

Gravatar Not myself gator but I think that all those who are saying they will not vote Democratic in November unless the ticket is lead by their person... will be cutting off their nose to spite their face and provide you with mucho styles and sizes to choose from.

Gravatar Hunter??? please. great speakers like Lincoln, King, Malcom, RFK, JFK, Dean, MLK, Ghandi? It is not speech making that makes someone a nazi-- this is just ridiculous.

oh and in other news.
oh and Media Matters has it. Rove Declares OBAMA MOST LIBERAL in senate.

Gravatar That has to be parody... Jebus.

Gravatar Just STOP. From the candidate on down. Take your beating and move on.

Clinton Deputy Campaign Director Mike Henry.... gone

It's never fun to go down, whether you're a supporter, volunteer, worker or candidate. It's a hard, cold pill to swallow. But you go out with a dose of fucking class. Not snapping and snarling crazy, CT bullshit. The candidate trying to lay it all on the staff ought to be a BIG fucking clue why it's going down this way.

Gravatar I'm sorry. I can' t help but enjoy the can of whup ass that's currently being unleashed on Hillary Clinton.

That's what she gets for bashing my people.

Okay. Now I promise I'll be nice from now on

http://www.brownsugar28.blogspot.com

Gravatar Hunter --

the status quo Obama is talking about is the status quo of the past 7 years -- and the status quo that made the last seven years possible.

Gravatar YAY.... actual "Fighting On" YAY. :-D

History. Watching it before our eyes. I could not be more proud. We're moving forward, making progress. Whatever else comes up, at least we're scaling the depths of the RUT. Progress!!!!

Sorry about your sinus, LG. NeilMed, very soothing. Feel better.

I'm so glad a couple other people than me saw that we needed a fuckin' tsunami to dislodge the bush/clinton IV machine. I feel like a fuckin' big wave surfer!!! If dear Tanbark was here, he could tell us about that.

Jesse,

Gravatar hell yes obama did...this wa the most important sente vote of his career....same with hillary. she didn't bother her third way cronies tossed us under the buss. im done with the lot of those corpratist authoritarian fuckwads.

No member ofthe DLC, no third way republican lite ever. Ram is dam luck that i don't live in his district....im at teh point that i would be the primary chalanger to him if i couldn't find any one else.

Gravatar I didn't start out as an Obama fanboy by a longshot, and I'm still not sure if he has the ability to back up his words with actions or deliver on the policy specifics outlined on his site (yes, he does provide something beyond declarative statements and rousing speeches).

However, as the days go by it becomes easier and easier to be for Obama til Denver, and beyond (because Hillary doesn't get my support, and doesn't get my vote unless November shapes up to be a razor thin margin). I say this in terms of his electability, in terms of his rhetoric, and in terms of a good chunk of his platform (again, available on his Website).

Look, ever since Ol' Straight Talk decided to roll over and become Bush and Cheney's buttboy 8 years ago in the name of blind ambition, I've understood that it might be useful to counter that sort of politician with someone who ISN'T willing to sacrifice his/her supposed core values to get into the Oval Office. More recently, I also came to the stunning conclusion that it might be useful to find someone who takes a significantly different viewpoint toward wars with Iraq and Iran than Mr. "100 Years and Bomb Iran". Now which of the two Dem contenders would that be? (hint: who said "no apologies" and "Yea" to Kyl-Lieberman?)

The FISA vote is a prime example of where the two candidates' priorities lie. I consider Hillary's absence from the floor on this critical issue a silent vote in favor of immunity for past and future corporate buddies. As with those so-called Senate Dems who voted a free pass for the telcos, she has no excuses here. This behavior goes hand in hand with her recent kissing up to Fox News (which, along with the other corporate media, will rip into whichever Dem is nominated).

The disclaimers are a little foolish at this point. First, it doesn't take a lot of reading between the lines to see where three of you stand (I'd say all 4, but Sara has been relatively quiet on the topic). Second, if a liberal blogger can't take a stand on the sum total of the candidates' positions on defining issues of the day, he might as well join the MSM's empty devotion to "objectivity". Third, you've all made it clear that (unlike me) no matter who you support now, you'll vote for the Dem in the general. So I'll ask again, why not take a stand?

Gravatar Hubris, you funny

Gravatar the littlest gator sorry got myself ad three boys with sinus infections here...at least its avoided my wife fucking weird ass weather...40 one day 4 the next ..thanks global warming

you all want to know the big difference between me and guys like jesse and hunter..they worrie about words (obam talks too purty, hillary is nice and wonky) I worry about actions (obama has rained in police powers, he botered to vote on FISA)

look im glad you like the platforme spacifics that hillary talked about..guess waht, that aint her plans that is a plan...one that she and her hanadlers decided was best suited to win the nomination...they will change in tiem for the primary..and again if she wins.

ignore words pay attention to actions.

Hillarys actions now and in the past aer why i depise her and her ilk...her comferting words are meaningless.

If you have to keep excusing someones actions you got a problem.

Gravatar hey OTB I will vote dem in november ...there is only one in the race.

almost every one of the so called dems in the senete who voted to give the telcos a pass is a clinton cronie.....

Gravatar oh im still wating for the spin

gary im guessign you are waitning for the official talking point correct?

Jesse...again high info voters go heavly for obama, low info go for hillary...hell of a no policy cult you got going there.

I Will NEVER Vote For A DLC fuckwit...never have and never will.

Gravatar Minstrel, is the headline "Cult Leader (Obama) Wins Virginia" a case of honest reporting on Hubris' part? I appreciate that Jesse spent time in his story talking about the treatment of the press by the two camps, since it provided context for the crazy hyperbole to follow (honestly comparing Obama to a cult leader, please). In my mind it's a buy-in to the Clinton talking point that there's something wrong with inspiring people, and the only worthy political speech is a wonk-fest.

Not to criticize Clinton, who I am prepared to support enthusiastically should she become the nominee. I'm just laughing at this blog who has made a big bold point of declaring its neutrality, even as they pile on Obama for, again, what seems to me to be the crime of insufficient servility to the press.

GNB - It's okay to prefer a candidate. But own it! Why try to present "Obama is a cult leader" as fair-and-balanced journalism?

Gravatar For an example of a thoughtful Clinton piece - with civil, grownup-like commentary, yet! - go read http://nielsenhayden.com/ makingl...938.html#009938

Lots to chew on, there.

Gravatar cherish - here's a small snack... a foul smelling snack yer ever so huge.... bush/clinton/bush/clinton.... NO.

Gravatar I thought the "Cult Leader" header was a joke. If not, yeech.

Gravatar cherish, that was nice. and refreshing.

Gravatar mjm1138... His tongue was planted firmly in cheek when he wrote that headline. After the tempest in a teapot a few threads down about Jesse going to an Obama Rally and seeing his supporters as being a bit too cult like... well that headline sort of wrote it self, I expect.

Its' just a joke and not an insult.

Gravatar Myrtle June --

I can only conclude that you didn't actually follow the link and read the piece.

Gravatar I think a little grace and calm might be in order. It's looking good for Obama, but the fat lady is not singing. The Clintons have pulled out of some tight spots and if I recall, the last time there was this much Obama-fever in the air was one of them.

Gravatar Amuesinc: I'll give the benefit of the doubt and concede I must have a tin ear for humor tonight. My criticism would better have been directed at Wendel's post.

Gravatar cherish - You'd be right. I know all I need to know in the fact that doing the same thing over and over expecting different results..... well, its just not progress.

Gravatar mjm1138 here is a quick rundown on the bloggers here

Sara is either nutral or very good and walking the line of objectivity...blame her years of acidamia.

LM is tenitivly pro Obama

HS has been suduced by the hyponobama and has joined us in the cult

Doc is a very serious person and as a very serious person backs the only canadate that win the inevatable hillary...oh wait i mean hes nutral...ya thats it nutral.

Gravatar In all this Obama/Clinton bashing, most of you are missing one important point. There is a better than even chance that Obama will be the Democratic nominee, and, according to this reporting, his campaign cannot seem to keep the media happy.

The Gore/Bush matchup was only close enough to steal because the MSM took sides early on. I'm afraid that we are about to see another round of "earth tones" "Love Story" and "I invented the internet" stories. Wasn't it Judy Miller who admitted that she slanted her stories because she thought that Gore was dissing them?

Yeah, it's a disgusting system, but it is something that should be easy to fix. Obama has the money to hire professionals whose sole job is to keep the media (MSM and bloggers, both) happy. A couple thousand dollars spent on a well stocked buffet table could do more good than a $1/2 million dollar ad buy

Gravatar outside of jesse I ahven't heard complaints about obamas treatment of the media...he dose not give a lto of acceess to the pundents ...never has...but he dose give that access to the news crews (shows up on GMA and what not happly)

I got no problem wit hthrowign the pundints under the buss...GMA and the today show and opra reacha hell of a lot more people then CNN or MSNBC

Gravatar In chosing a candidate, I always think of something that former British PM MacMillan is alleged to have said.
When asked what were the greatest challenges to a politican, he is said to have replied "events my dear boy, events". To me this implies that Macmillan is saying that judgement is most important because how one responds to events is by ones judgement. To me Sen. Clinton made a huge error in not showing up for the FISA vote. At least Sen. Obama showed up to vote. There is still time though for both candidates to make a public stand.

Gravatar I thought the "Cult Leader" header was a joke.

Yeah, I'm quite sure it was a joke, sm.

Because I'm also pretty sure, at this point, that HS is an Obama supporter. LOL.

Gravatar Periwinkle Spark Plug its not jsut FISA..its bankrupcy, its NAFTA, its AUMF...clinton has constelntly thrown us under teh buss in favor of the corperations...its Patriot act, its attacks on media..clinton has constently thrown us under the bus in favor of more authoritarina control.

this is not one isolated incident this her modis operandi....ignore the words they all lie...pay attention to her actions...her actions that overwhelmingly show that we don't matter.

open your fuckign eyes, clinton is no better then an R.

Gravatar moonglum

In that case, I hope I'm wrong. I hadn't heard much one way or another, so I was afraid that Jesse's experiences were typical

Gravatar (Note: Cross-posting this to all major comment political threads which are currently open. --jwe)

Everyone, LISTEN UP...

Stop accusing each other of lying. Stop calling each other names.

Right now.

I'm not playing games. I'm not fooling around.

I will start tossing people off this board, and I don't give a hoot how many of you go. THIS CRAP STOPS NOW.

We will have a safe space here without personal attacks if I have to personally ban half of you.

A full post on this will show up eventually. Till then, KNOCK IT OFF.

I refuse to be the bad guy who walks around with a big stick keeping discipline. It isn't my nature and makes me cranky.

I expect everyone to behave as you would if you were talking to someone's mother... Be polite. Be nice. Be professional. Feel free to attack ideas. Attack people and you are GONE.

THIS IS A WARNING TO EVERYONE. It is NOT directed at any one person or any one offense. Ignore what I'm saying at your own risk. Give me any crap about this at your own risk.

GNB from day one has been designed to be a safe space. During primary season, things have got out of hand. That stops right now. It is safe here and it is going to stay that way. If someone attacks you, leave it alone. Feel free to briefly and without attacking them, point out they are attacking you personally and we don't do that here, but do NOT attack them back or both of you will get tossed. "Inciting to riot is not an excuse to riot." Don't get suckered into throwing the second punch.

We bloggers won't catch everyone every time because we can't see everything, and as I say, we're not in the business of being enforcers. But if someone is recurrently making personal attacks, we'll catch them. If not that time, eventually. Do not participate, including don't keep writing "personal attack, personal attack, personal attack, personal attack." Let them be the bad actor, not you.

Someone is going to test us on this. Obviously some fool will come in and do it. That's fine. But some regular will do it just because that's who they are, or even some regular will forget him or her self and test us. We'll miss them; for about ten minutes.

What happened this week where a blogger was attacked (in this case, me but it could have been any of us because you never truly know when you're going to write the post which brings the storm down on you) and where in the threads, some of you continue to bash each other over which candidates you support, calling each other liars and other names, casting aspersions on each other based on where people come from.... all that is never, ever, ever happening again. We are all going to be nice to each other at GNB. If you want to attack people, there are plenty of boards where that is acceptable. This is not one of them.

Again, a post on all this will show up eventually. Till you get full details, be nice. Pretend you're talking to someone's mother. Argue ideas... do not attack someone personally. Don't even come close.
