The thing about Lieberman is that he has always been the same lying sanctimonious sack of shit. We only noticed it after his pro-Arab killing derangement hit critical after the Iraq War started.

As others have noted, it's about the math. The Leeb's days are numbered, and within one year, or less, when the Senate makeup is Dem by a lot more, he's all over. It seems plain that he knows that too on a certain level. He and Hillary can push their little Sen. desks together and play footsie. I think even McCain won't want to sit over in that corner.

Oh, the fact that she feels spurned is totally different from whether she actually HAS been “spurned”. It's all about internal perception. She feels it legitimately I think. And if you look at the raw circumstantial evidence of shifts away from her, you could rationalize reasons for that feeling from her. However it doesn't take much digging to see that what happened with her involving those “shifts away” is a lot more nuanced than that. Her abysmal handing of the IWR vote and her dishwater-weak defense of said abysmal handling is the razor-blade in the apple of her Senate tenure for many folks. Add to that certain idiotic, polarizing gaffes in-campaign that CANNOT BE SPUN AWAY as “Hey I was just reportin' demographics” or context-mangling blurts of naked insensitivity mixed with dog-whistle calls to the less-kind-hearted of us and the electoral shunning that so upsets her makes clear sense. But, she does have an actual track record of good deeds behind her—far, far more then Lieberman could ever lay claim to in his life—and those good deeds I think she feels should have bullet-proofed her from criticism. The fact that they haven't has given rise to her feelings (even if ultimately misplaced) of righteous indignation.
Lieberman's anger though isn't based in reality in any way. He's spent his entire senate tenure as a sanctimonious, jail-shanking pseudo-fellow traveler you can't ever take your eyes off of. He's hung up on the clubby collegiality of the Senate and thinks that he is entitled to a “forever pass” to be there and that no one should call him out on his self-serving (and PAC / lobby-serving) bullshit.
When he caught hell for his perfidy during the '06 race, he was actually offended. He took it as a personal affront and some sort of party / republic-damaging turn away from sanity. Remember—he got into the Senate running as a GOP-supported alternative to then CT Sen. Lowell Weicker who'd drifted ever-leftward in a then still very moderate / Rockefeller Republican state with its politics controlled by the big-money insurance and financial companies that called it home. Weicker was targeted ever since he voted the opposite of his backers to impeach their beloved Nixon. The stalking-horse Lieberman run was embarked upon to put a steady, stealth right-wing voice back in that Senate seat. Lieberman earned his pat on the head for his sucker-punch on Bill Clinton during “MonicaGate” in '98, and has been a willful, prickish thorn in the party's progressive side ever since. He got mad because he forgot that The Senate ain't The Supreme Court, and nobody gets a lifetime appointment, especially if the electorate shifts while they wanna keep doing stuff said electorate has said “Uh-uh. We want something different now”.
His “anger” is hubris and selfishness-fueled, with NO BASIS IN ANY WAY ON BETRAYAL BY THE PEOPLE.
He walked away. Then turned around, saw himself a mile down the road, and excoriated the people in the distance for abandoning him.
I want that increased Senate majority. A safe enough one where he can be cast from the caucus with every “majority-in-the-balance” perk shit-canned.
2012, or a retirement, or whatever it takes so that he isn't in the well of the Senate or on my TV bleating about whatever's got his Depends™ in a wet, soiled bunch can't come fast enough for me—or I think anyone who gives a damn about getting decent things done in Washington, D,C,.

LM, yes. The distinction you draw here of her "feeling" spurned as opposed to BEing spurned is the key. Same with Joe.
I think her "feeling" this way originated with the BEing spurned by her husband. That's normally private in a marriage but all too often women take this on as part of their persona and everything that happens reactivates that spurned feeling. There's a decidedly different tone and demeanor she has prior to the actual hubby spurn and after. Its what I hear in her voice and see in her actions, even before the run for the Presidency, that spurned victim perpetuation. People naturally feel bad for victims, for whatever happened to them. When it becomes expected that we live there and never expect them to progress past that state then it becomes a problem. We somehow enable people to remain victims instead of them taking appropriate action to reclaim their power and through it, past it.
To me she's been spurned appropriately from her actions and words and needs to stop playing off that in this election. Joe does this too. He wasn't spurned though. He made his own victim state for his craven deeds. But, the prevalent "victimology" meme gives him the path to claim it and ligitimize it in his mind.

IMHO, since I have a Machiavellian sneaky streak which I promised my guardian angel I would use for Good this lifetime around, I think Obama looks back on it as a dirty but necessary education in the secret inner mechanisms of the Great Corruption Machine, an education which is now bearing much fruit, and will continue to do so for a long, long time.
