Great post, Matt. UBL might as well have assumed the same stability as Arafat. And comparing UBL to the 180 degrees out of phase Algore is simply brilliant.

Ceci is another whom we immediately hit with the mute button when she opens her mouth. Nothing insightful or useful ever comes out of her; just the same-o same-o.

Bin Laden is not Sultan Suleyman, nor is Zarqawi anywhere near a Dragut Rais, or a Sinan Pasha, or an Aga Morat, or a Saladin. They need to learn from the Turks how all this is done. Extremely fortunately for us, they haven't.

On our side, we could learn a thing or two about how Temujin combatted Islamofascism... and won handily.

I, too, heard her blathering last night. I'm just glad the the Hammer was there to set her straight.

But UBL is the darling of the MSM and he will get much more exposure than his feble position deserves because of the bias in the MSM.

I agree with Rod. This guy is living in a hole somewhere yet the lava of stupidity flowing from his mouth is instantly covered by every MSM outlet.

I recall a blogger commenting that UBL's election tape amounted to 'heed my warning or I shall taunt you again'. Well, I think we've just been taunted, again. And only the MSM cares.

OT to Ciggy: Are you familiar with the name Dorothy Dunnett?

Retread,

His mother was a hamster and his father smelt of elderberries?

Oh... inhumanity.. He's been... Backpaged..

Retread, you've outed me as a D. Dunnett fan! She nearly lost me when she had the entire Turkish Empire in the thrall of a single Knight of Saint John (just because he was giving up secrets they could have gotten from any Maltese fisherman?), but now that she has him killed off during the ambush at Zuara, she is forgiven. Lymond sails again!

Another OT to Ciggy: Is this your first read through of LC? If so, the phrase 'watch his hands' is useful to keep in mind while reading the wily Dunnett.

Will somebody fill us all in on the "wily Dunnett"?

Thank you,Froggy - I consider myself fairly well-read, but I don't know what they're talking about!!

So we've peaked your curiosity with the Dunnett references, have we?

Dorothy Dunnett was a writer of historical fiction, with the emphasis on historical, and a turn of phrase like no one else I've read. Don't be mislead by the historical fiction category, her books are far from bodice rippers, and to get the most out of them they to be re-read.

The first series (6 books) is the Lymond Chronicles, set in the 16th century and covering the political events in countries from Scotland, France, Malta and the Levant to Russia. Her history is faultless and, in fact, a few years ago when archeoligists decided to search for the ship Edward Bonaventure they used Dunnett's description of its sinking in their calculations.

There is a second series called the House of Nicolo set in the 15th century and covering the rise of the mercantile class. Since they were all re-printed a few years ago should be still easily available. I reccommend them highly if you have an interest in either period or just enjoy excellent writing.

My 'wily Dunnett' description is because she was so good at describing characters' actions and leaving it up the reader to connect the dots, hence the re-reading appeal.

What tipped me off in Ciggy's comment was his mention of Dragut Rais, Sinan Pasha and the Aga Morat, all historical characters fleshed out by Dunnett. Thanks for letting me hijack your thread without censure, it isn't often I come across someone else who has read and enjoyed Dunnett. Feel free to e-mail me off thread if any of you, Ciggy, Froggy or Karen, want to carry on further discussion. I'm always willing to talk Dunnett.

Thanks for making us all feel like retards, Retread. Or is that just me? Really, thanks.
