More classy actions from the "tolerant" Left...

Scumbags...

Matt,

These are some pretty brave individuals especially seen in the light that walls don’t hit back or defend themselves – fools!!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily the memory and names of those honored on the wall are imprinted where no hand or person can damage them, the hearts of a grateful nation of true Americans.

Matt, you had a blog awhile ago where you nominated a young Marine for his actions during a firefight in which he was badly wounded several times. If memory serves me right he was also nominated for the Medal of Honor, do you think he is going to get the Medal.

Regards,

Jan.

I fantasize about what would happen if 3-10 guys on leave/furlough, maybe a couple beers under their belt, going out after the bars close to pay tribute to those who have done great things, would stumble on that group of "social activists" in mid "statement."

CitGrad,
I often have a similar fantasy with my last Platoon just coming out of a restaurant and catching those fuckers. The beat down that would commence would be beautiful.

Amen, Froggy. That is sacred ground, and I don't know why, but even as I child I knew it. I spent a lot of time in DC growing up, and there's an aura of greatness and a need to comport oneself with dignity in such places. How anyone could go there and not feel it is beyond me.

They should be strapped to a bed for 15 years and then have their feeding tubes removed.

It would be wonderful if someone has something on a surveillence tape. I'd love to know the backgrounds of the idiots who did this. Never ceases to amaze me that a lot of anti war protesters fail to see a relationship between our having the military we do and their protected right to say stupid things.

I do hold out a little curiosity for this not even being full fledged anti war protesters, but stupid kids whose parents haven't taught them better. Could be that, too.

Matt,

We don’t have places like Arlington Cemetery or the Viet Nam Veterans Wall. Each town normally had a small, modest often hidden away acre for Hero’s.

My hometowns main Cemetery was being vandalized and desecrated by the local satanist faction. Because the law didn’t do anything we took it upon ourselves to sort them out, we turned those smack snorting pagan freaks into s….t. The only repercussions were that we had to deal with the fact that many of them were our supposed friends, guys like us and the fact that the rest of their “clan” wanted to bounce on us – never happened.

The one idiot’s granddad was buried there.

Regards,

Jan

Jan,
Good on ya.

I actually had the good fortune to see such an occurrence (almost).

I marched in the Desert Storm Victory Parade in Wash DC...and of course there was a small contingent of America-hating protestors along the route.

After the Parade, there was a massive picnic on the Mall for the particpants and VIP's. When we were released at the end of the parade everyone headed towards the picnic... about 2 miles away. I was the only one from my unit at the parade and I did not know anyone there so I just casually walked in the generally direction...enjoying the sites. Along the way, I noticed 6 Special Forces soldiers looking sharp in their Class A's. They were walking towards the picnic area. Following about 5 feet behind them was some lame-ass hippy that was holding an Anti-war sign and was screaming a non-stop litany of profanity at the SF guys. Of course, the SF guys were not affected in the least and kept on walking. This went on for about 5 mintues until finally a couple of college students (judging by their hair and clothes) took matters into their own hands. The started sceaming back at the hippy. Things broke down quickly, the hippy tried to hit one of the students with his sign and it ended up with the college students kicking the shit out of the hippy. The SF guys just kept walking.

I just kept walking, I was grinning from ear to ear, though.

What came to my mind and misty eyes as I read what those pieces did to the memorial was "good men sleep peacefully at night because rough men stand read to do violence on their behalf"
these however were not "good men" I concur and would enjoy giving or watching them get a good beat down

This just breaks my heart. I was in the hospital room yesterday and today of a soldier badly wounded in Fallujah last November. To know of his bravery and sacrifice and the heavy price he is still paying, then see what these a&&holes did.....well, I truly don't have the words to express how I feel about them.

One year during a Grey cup parade up here in Canada i saw an old vet crying at a war memorial. he was in uniform and had come down to protect the memorial. i asked why he was crying and he told me EVERY parade they have in this area, someone defaces the memorial. this time they were running up and kicking the flowers and wreaths over and he had tried to stop them but he was too old.
myself and some other REAL PROUD canadians stood with this vet and literaly took his orders and fought off a bunch of idiots. i will always remember him shouting " get em boys, we are stopping them" and yelling "yahoo" and "what do you think now you bastards." unfortunatly one of them got through and kicked over a wreath and grabbed another and ran with it.[this was on top of the damage already done] i gave chase and caught him about 50 feet from a cop. by the time the cop got there i had a broken nose but the perp was out cold with MANY bruises and teeth missing and probably a broken hand because i jumped on it with both feet. the cop ordered me up against the wall and when he found out what was going on he told me to go BACK to the memorial and help the vet. by the time i got back [with the wreath] there were about 20 guys defending it and NO ONE was attacking the memorial. the bottom line is this...it was the same group of a'holes who had been doing this for about 6 yrs. when word got out that the cops were not going to protect them from a shit kicking and were not going to charge the shit kickers and that the memorial was going to be protected...well...guess what...no more disrespect to the memorial.oh..by the way.....the vet was still crying 4 hrs later but with tears of joy...and thats when i went and got my nose looked at. my eyes still water up when i think of the PURE joy on that vets face.

The rough men defending have to sometimes do the defending right here at home.

That's a story you can tell your grandkids, Robert.

I think I'm in love with Robert!

Good for you, Robert.

I'm reminded of a WWII recruiting poster which depicted two young women looking admiringly as a WAC walks by, tall and proud. Somebody photoshopped it with the caption "Did you see how she kicked that hippie's ass?"

Robert, that is outstanding. I take back the silly remark I made in the thread below about Canadians! I hope there's lots more like you.

I do wish every one of these memorial vandals could have the sh!t kicked out of them to where they were permanently disabled.

Sounds like Robert took John Wayne's pep talk to heart!!

Robert, you are hereby made an honorary Texan! Go buy a Resistol!

They're not all Americans. The vandals really don't want to be.

It is truly pathetic that such individuals have forgotten this important truth:

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag.

BTW, I wish I was there with Robert...that sounds like a good, righteous time!

thanks froggy...i will tell my grandkids some day..and thanks to all the rest of you for your nice comments. if we all did what we had to do when it needs doing then people like those vandels would be too scared to wreak havoc. unfortunatly our laws protect them more than they do the victim. i may not be a seal or a member of the armed forces but i am a rightous biker dude who has held office in a club...i wish to hell they had a battalion made up of bikers...woo !!...i would be in line...and karen.....you can't be in love with me...i am already in love with me......not enough room for the two of us...heh heh heh

Chris, thanks for that GREAT poem. That's going to everyone I know.

Robert, that last comment ws HILARIOUS! Great story and thing you did, BTW.

Glad you enjoyed that Adele, but it's not an original...I don't remember the author's name, but I did want to find it and spread it around.

I googled "It is the soldier, not the reporter" and it seems to be attributed to Father Dennis Edward O'Brian, USMC. Zell Miller also quoted it in his so memorable convention speech last Sept. 2 (the 'Against! Against! Against!' speech, or as I refer to it, the 'With what - speeeitbawls?!' speech). BTW, I am a Zell Fanatic.

I second red rivers motion to make Robert an honorary Texan! Welcome to Texas any time Robert!

Texas is a great state and I go there for work about three times a year. Balances out living in NY!

I know it's only Sunday but I'm jonesing for a new post
