Dont give up on the last Seal from the S/R team.
Between prayers, Rangers, Marines and technology, we will bring him home.
Mark my words, he is coming home, and soon.

Matt:
Does the military use a Spooky gunship for cover in operations such as this one, just in case a helo does go down? And could it provide protection long enough for help to arrive?
Thank you for keeping us all current on this. Thank you for what you and your brothers do for us. Prayers are going up.

There is a chance that I can make it to pay respect to Shane Patton at his service. Is there any feedback on if these services are open to the public, or are they private?

Are these services open to the public? Or open to families of other SEAL members?
And yes I'm still hoping the other SEAL is found soon

Navy SEAL Jeff Taylor
Jeffrey S. Taylor VIRGINIA BEACH
Navy SEAL Jeff Taylor died June 28, 2005, while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan. He was killed when the MH-47 Chinook helicopter he was aboard crashed into the rugged mountains of eastern Afghanistan. The helicopter was enroute to provide support to troops on the ground when it was shot down by enemy forces. He was assigned to SEAL Team Ten, Virginia Beach. Hospital Corpsman First Class (HM1) Jeff "JT" Taylor spent his first 18 years in Beckley, W.Va., where he graduated from Independence High School in Coal City, W.Va. He enlisted in the Navy June 20, 1994, and completed basic training in Great Lakes, Ill., in August 1994. He was also a graduate of Field Medical Service School in Camp Lejeune, N.C., and became a Navy SEAL following Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training in Coronado, Calif. Jeff was also a Basic Airborne and Military Freefall Parachute school graduate. In addition to SEAL Team Ten, Jeff’s previous duty stations include the Navy Medical Center, Portsmouth, the 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C., SEAL Team Eight and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). HM1 Taylor’s military awards include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal as well as numerous other personal and command awards. Jeff devoted himself to this country and its children. His recent words to his wife Erin - written from Afghanistan - capture Jeff’s spirit. "Here I am, living my dream. Extended out as the farthest reaching arm to smash those who wish harm on my loved ones and our way of life. Sometimes the great pride is replaced with anger, followed by sadness at the loss of friends that couldn’t be here with me to fight as they also dreamed to do. As far away as I am, I feel at home here, and know this is what I’m meant to do. Not sure if this will give me the closure to move on or solidifies my place in life, only time will tell. The one thing I know without a doubt is that I look forward to coming home to you, being the best husband I can and loving you for the rest of my life." Jeff was an expert outdoorsman who loved gun smithing, hunting, shooting, his dogs, sky diving, BASE jumping, rock climbing and adventure sports. He is survived by his wife of three months, Erin (Banghart) Taylor of Virginia Beach; his mother, Gail Bowman of Beckley, W.Va.; a brother, Brandon Eston Cox of Wichita; his stepfather, Jim Bowman; four stepbrothers, James Gregory Bowman, Jay Patrick Bowman, Kelly Dale Bowman and Carl Dayton Bowman, all of Beckley; his father, John Taylor; stepmother, Cheryl Gwinn Taylor; and his half brothers, Justin Alex Taylor and Josh David Taylor, all of Rainelle, W.Va.; his maternal grandmother, Manda Elizabeth Birchfield; and a paternal grandmother, Lucille Taylor Smith,. A memorial service will be conducted today at 10 a.m. at the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base Theater. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road, is handling arrangements. A funeral with full military honors will be held Sunday in Beckley, W.Va. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Naval Special Warfare Foundation.

I had trouble swallowing after I read his comments and that he's been married for three months.
I wonder if this many family names and locations ought to be listed here? Sorry, Karen. Just a thought.

Adele, you may be right. If Froggy thinks it inappropriate, I will understand.
I just wanted everyone to know what fine young men all the SEALs are and with their deaths, we are all humbled.

Froggy,
Very sorry and heartbroken to hear of the deaths of these Warriors. I am a retired (1999) Senior Chief Submariner that lives next door to Littleton, Colorado. Let me know if there is anything I can do do help the family or with the funeral. I do plan to attend the services if possible.
Just email me and I will give you my contact info

I just read a report from an AP interview with some alleged Taliban puke claiming... I don't give a fuck what you read, if what you read starts like this, do not put it on my site. UNDERSTAND? How many times do I need to make this point fuckhead? You are putting this unsubstatiated and highly inflammatory bullshit in the comments of a post that is directing friends and family members of the fallen to their individual funeral services! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?
Is it me or is it self evident that this sort of wild speculation is irresponsible, and under the circumstances insensitive? Froggy

Matt,
The man on the hijacked plane was a Navy Diver, his brother however, was a SEAL.
As for the reports, there has been and will continue to be much speculation from the media. As the statements from the military indicate, he may still be alive and there is an active recovery operation in progress; therefore, out of respect for this man, for the families and for the operators sitll engaged, I will not join in public speculation as to the validity of the terrorists' reports, and I urge you to refrain from the same.

Robert Stethem was a Navy Diver--NOT a SEAL. His brother Ken went through BUD/S one class behind me, and did time in the Teams, though.
I won't even comment on our guy on the ground, other than to say that the search continues and we are keeping fingers crossed.

Funeral service for PO2 James Suh of SDVT1 will be held as follows:
DATE: July 30 (Saturday)
TIME: 11:00 AM
PLACE: Forest Lawn- Hollywood Hills
6300 Forest Lawn Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90068
The funeral is open to the public. Our family would be most grateful if you could attend.
Along with his sister, James was raised in South Florida by his single parent and father, Solomon Suh. He was loved by an entire community of family and friends who knew James as a young man of exceptional character, intelligence and athleticism packaged under a wry smile and unfaltering dry sense of humor. Growing up, James was encouraged to make academics his priority – he was in gifted and advanced classes throughout his school years. James was also a star athlete on the high school swim team and tennis team. His friends would tell you that he was the type of person who was easy to love and someone who would go out of his way to make outsiders feel included. Those who knew him knew James had immense pride in two things: his close knit family including 11 cousins who were like his siblings and his job as a U.S. Navy Seal. James’s childhood dream to become a veterinarian (he was a “dog-whisperer” of sorts) was overtaken later in life by his desire to become a Seal. James exuded passion and pride in being part of an elite group of men who defied the limits of human physical and mental endurance. He was always a protector of his family and friends and became equally committed to defending and protecting our country. He was a rare combination of strength, intelligence, humor and compassion. Our family is comforted by the fact that James had a deep faith in God and spent his entire life making it clear to those he loved that he would always protect them.
James is survived by his father, older sister and large extended family.
Thank you for your prayers.

Mr. Chang, your info was posted also at the Soldiers' Angels' blog. We support troops and a few angels in each of the cities are planning on going. Thank you for inviting us to share in James' service.
Below is a post from our blog about the funeral for Shane Patton. Angel Jody attended with a friend, Erla, who is also a Soldiers' Angel.
Hi Angels,
Erla and I just got back from Shane's funeral. He was the youngest member (age 22) of the Navy Seals to be killed in action in Afghanistan on June 28th. It was a beautiful service with family, friends, politicians and members of the military present. I'll be honest; I cried like a baby, it was a very emotional and moving service. The memorial service was completely packed. Not one empty chair. Living in Nevada we aren't used to seeing so many service men and women in their Navy white dress uniforms. I was very proud to be in their presence. Shane was the first Navy Nevadan to be killed in action. A young bright happy individual he was. It truly was an honor to be present and to be surrounded by so many caring individuals. Erla and I stood outside with others as the service took place. We never got to talk to the family members but I'm so glad I attended. To be honest I've never gone to a memorial service of someone I have never met before so I wasn't sure how to respond and what to do. The one thing I know is if any member of the military passes and lives in your area please do everything in your effort to attend their memorial. It's not only the least thing you could do but it certainly has strengthened my resolve to help these brave men and women even more who are fighting for freedom. If anyone would like to send cards to the Patton family please feel free to e-mail me and I can make sure they get passed on to his family. Thanks Erla for coming with me!
Thank you angels!
Jody

Cass,
The final missing SEAL has been located and is officially listed as KIA. The next of kin have been notified, and we are coordinating funeral arrangements as you read this. SDVT-1 will honor this guy along with our other fallen personnel at a Memorial Service at Punchbowl National Memorial tomorrow morning at 1000.
On an admin note, the reports in the news regarding his "execution" were wrong.

Just spoke to NSWF, to get info for Soldiers' Angels who are going to wakes and funerals, and I thought I would post here that all the wakes open to the public, as least as far as NSWF knows.
They are accepting sympathy cards from the public and will forward them to all the families. There address is:
Naval Special Warfare Foundation
PO Box 5965
Virginia Beach, VA 23471
I'd encourage anyone to make a gift that can. They accept it monthly and take all credit cards.

I recently had the honor and the priviledge to engrave the knives and the dive masks for all our fallen SEALS in Afghanistan. I am stationed at SDVT-2 and would like to send my condolences out to all of the family members of our fallen heroes. I also was duty driver and had the honor and the priveledge to escort the Dietz family today. I recently checked into the command (March) and I only got know Danny for about 10 minutes before he went to Afghanistan when he brought his BIG Japanese Mastiff into the shop to show her off to us. I wish I would have gotten to know him a little more as I did with his lovely family. I can tell you this, Danny and his family will always be cherished and remembered at this command, no matter how brief we knew him, he will always be a hero to us! He and his family will always be in our hearts. MR2(SW) James R. French II
