What an incredible tribute to one of America's real heroes. With your permission I would like to reprint the article, with photos, in our Los Angeles Firefighter newspaper.

May our dear Lord have a special place for Petty Officer Suh.

Thank you for such a moving tribute to a fallen commrade. I'm a recently retired USAF TSgt. Every time I read an obituary of a serviceman that's given his life for our country I shed a tear. I do so because I think it is SO sad that there are so many people in our country who have absolutely no idea what it means to serve one's country. They take SO many things for granted. I and my fellow servicemen DON'T.
We serve our country because we love it, not because it was the "only thing" we had. Until the left finds a clue about true patriotism they'll forever be relegated to being nothing more than bitter apologists for the likes of Bin Laden and his cronies!!!
RIP Petty Officer. You've earned it!

I don't recall where, but I read something that I think is apropriate.
"Decent people sleep soundly in their beds at night because somewhere, rough men stand ready to violence in their names"
Where do we get such men? What qualities burn within men like PO Suh, that they are not only able, but willing to be those "rough men"

MY GREEN BROTHERS
You ask who are my Green Brothers?
First here's who they are not.
They are not of one height or weight.
They are not of one religion or race.
They are not of one political party,
nor economic class.
They are never politically correct.
Most important, they are not quitters.
Now think on this,
this is who they are.
They will go to the EDGE and beyond, alone or as a group.
When knocked down, they get back up and keep getting back up,
until they win.
When they have nothing left, they find more and share it.
They stand ready to do the Bad Business of War.
They are my Teammates.

It's hard to lose someone in battle. It's something you never get over. From that point on every loss is personal. You will never be able to see a little headline about 'x' number of soldiers KIA without thnking about the brothers, sisters, and spouses of those lost. Every soldier lost brings back the memory of Bobby's dad cluthing the flag as his son was lowered into the hallowed ground of Arlington. Just as James' dad was clutching the flag that draped a hero's coffin. It's affected me for a lifetime.
If you've lost someone, do yourself a favor, speak their name, and speak it often. Toast their memory and sacrificice at every occassion. I won't lie to you, their name will get caught in your throat. It won't be easy. It won't ever be easy, so don't expect it to be. You'd hate yourself if it did. Always remember what they died for: freedom. It is a gift they gave the world. The worst thing you could do is go into a shell and feel guilty at every little pleasure because your loved one can no longer share the moment with you. Those moments exist only because men like PO James Suh were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. Live your life. Live it for them and live it to the fullest. You owe them that much. We all do.
If your life has no direction walk amongst the gravestones of Alrington. You'll find direction there. And if you go, please visit Bobby for me. I haven't had the stomach to go just yet.

Just so everyone knows, Hugh Hewitt, a national talk radio host and the author of a terrific book, "BLOG," read all of Matt's wonderful piece on his show on Tuesday afternoon. He started to break up emotionally at the "Trident Part." Made me break up again when he did that.
On other, but similar, occasions he plays the Navy Hymn for fallen Navy heroes. That's why he is so far superior to any other talking head on the radio.
What a tribute, Matt. Well done.

It is a fact that the Divorce rate in the Special Ops community is 75%. These special Men pay a high personal price to defend our Nation. Their extreme training is both rigourous and dangerous. Men are routinely killed in exercises. These are indeed the "Rough Men who stand ready to do extreme violence to those who would harm us."
We sleep peacefully at night due to our Military who are woefully underpaid. That we realize this more and more is a reflection of 911. I wish to extend my profound personal sympathies to the Family of Petty Officer James Suh. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.
He is a credit to his service, the Navy, and the Armed Forces of the US.
We have indeed a Next Greatest Generation. They are the volunteers who despite the MSM negative press are willing to give their last full measure of devotion to keep us free.

I have such admiration for all these brave people we have defending our country even with such embarrasing (United States Press People's) negative reporting. I am truly ashamed of many of our journalism people for their Un-American way of reporting on the war which truly amounts to giving aid & comfort to the enemy. These fallen warriors deserve much better than this. My heartfelt admiration & thanks go out to the Suh family for their contribution to our great country.

I happen to have been fortunate enough to be one of the LAFD members who were given the honor of representing the LAFD to honor of this brave soldier as he was laid to rest. Many people came up to my fellow firefighters and myself and told us how much they appriciated us being there. I can not say enough, how honored WE were to even be considered to be part of this ceremony. It deeply sadeened my crew and myself knowing that our country had lost one of its elite, but we found comfort in knwoing also that his efforts have not gone unrewarded since his sacrifice continues to bring the people of this nation the freedom we have. The members of my station and crew have Heros ...the soldiers of our armed services. To Matt and Everyone who has sent our family their condolences and prayers,
Please know that the sentiments you hold for my brother James are the same ones which he long held for his brothers, his teammates. James would always reassure our family by emphasizing to us "I'm with a great, great group of guys out here."
I try to think of what James would say to us now and I believe he would be comforting us but at the same time encouraging us to start doing all the good we can in this life until the day we are with him again. He would remind us of his brothers and sisters who are still out there fighting for us, defending us, who need our support.
He would remind me in particular to take special care of my dad - to make sure his teeth and eyes are taken care of and that he has comfortable shoes to wear. James loved his dad beyond words and I know how much he must appreciate the kindness and reverence that have surrounded our father in these difficult days.
James was a God-loving, morally driven person who chose a profession in which he could live out his greatest ambitions and serve his call to duty. I admire those who have done the same.
There are a few quotes that James had handwritten in a notebook that I found in his home a few days after we got the news. I choose two of these quotes to print on the back of some prayer cards that were handed out at his funeral. These are wallet-size cards that will remind me of him and the way he chose to live his life, long after the acute pain of losing him fades.
The quotes:
"There is a transcendent power in example. We reform others unconsciously when we walk uprightly." -Anne Sophie Swetchine
"A ship in the harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are for." - John Shedel

I am so proud of you. I miss you immensely. Abigail talks about you often, asking "why is Uncle James far away"? You are in a better place now - where you are safer and more alive then ever before. Thank you for protecting our family. Untill we see you again . . .

A well deserve wonderful tribute to one of our hero. As the mom of a Navy Seal I share the pain and the pride of his loved ones and thank them for his courage.

I was fortunate enough to have served with SDV-Team One as a technical expert in Coronado and got to know the people that make up the Teams. People like Petty Officer James E. Suh. Men that never say quit and live life to the fullest. These men are the types that have put their lives on hold to defend this great nation. They are standing up and being counted. Petty officer Suh, there is a special place for you and your family. Thank you for what you did and my God bless your family. They are in my prayers.
