Preach with me

people are not "tired" of people power. they are too "lazy" to articulate.

good thing Andres Bonifacio never said, 'nakakasawa na kasi ang people power..nakakapagod na...".

Gravatar @ Trolly

In the case of Edsa 2, those who used People Power were the conspirators who certainly knew what they were doing. It's the followers who went to Edsa in January 2001 who were kinda stupid. The result is the hell the Philippines is in right now.

@ Sparks
Hi! I posted a comment to this article's reprint at the Philippine Commentary Site

Gravatar If the people are stupid and they use people power, it results in stupid power.

Gravatar Overpopulation prevents people power from succeeding. the last successful people power was in Iceland, population 8 people and one skidoo. in a country of 80 million, there will always be enough to undercut people power.

RH Bill, ngayon na!

Gravatar Revolutions of whatever sort tend to reset the whole system and it takes a while for everything to get back in order again.
There is also the possibility that the next revolution, if there is one, may no longer take us back to a government run by civilians. That is where the danger lies.
There are forces now, within and outside the Philippines, who are just waiting for our government to collapse.

Gravatar even if the aftermath of edsa 86 found the people disenfranchised all over again, still the four days taken as an expression of dissent and as uprising was quite successful. oo makitid ang goals, to oust marcos, so siyempre makitid rin ang success. obviously future exercises of people power would require higher wider deeper goals, pero para makarating doon, people need to be adequately informed and enlightened about issues. many say the masa do not understand chacha and federalism, much less con-ass, and they're right. it's a failure of mainstream media, which is just too preoccupied with its pa-objective image to bother about explaining issues to the masa in terms/language they can understand.

Gravatar I think People Power is a means of resistance and dissent, even if it is considered "illegitimate" by some people. It is an expression of dissent, at least in my view; People Power, or any mass action, is not the cure-all for every political ill we have, rather it is an expression that we have political ills, and the people will not stand for that and remain passive.
