I have been working at a call centre forever. Here's a tip to dealing with stupid angry Americans who have nothing else to do but blame you for their problems that have nothing to do with you.... I like to picture them looking funny. You know- a huge 300pound man screaming at you is stressful... but a scrawny man in a clown costume not so much.
Oh and after a while you'll start ending your phone calls with your friends "thank-you for your time, have a nice day".

caitlin it's just a job and you're not trapped there for life, you'll get use to it soon and might even enjoy it a little - learn to make fun of all the shit that is irritating.

I've worked with people for a long time and working for the government, we delt with jerks all the time. The thing is, when people can't see you, they unload on you because you're only a voice.
Teaching, I have kids call me a bitch to my face or talk about me while I'm 5 feet away. The thing is, you have to learn not to take it personally, even though on the bad days, it's hard not to.
Plus, you really can find the humour in shitty jobs like that. Look at Office Space ...
