Gravatar You're absolutely right, CS, and my church, the Episcopal Church, is a perfect example of that, although it hasn't hit my little church here... yet! If it ever does, and I have a horrible feeling that it might... we will be forced to leave. I will not take communion from a homosexual priest!

When Robinson was made a Bishop, many people walked away from the Episcopal church. The only reason we didn't is because the majority of our congregation is conservative and the Bishop from the Diocese in Houston is also conservative. Should this ever change, Walt and I will be forced to leave and it would break our hearts, because we love our little church, but we cannot and will not tolerate deviating away from scripture and God's law.

Excellent post! Please see this link. It's quite disturbing to me:
Church 'storm' of mass defections brews"

Gravatar Thank you, Gayle.

Unfortunately, there are many who fear the Church, as it reminds them that they, too, have a conscience, which they've chosen to ignore and reject. They may have been able to silence their inner moral/ethical compass, but when they encounter those of us who listen to our conscience and who respect the distinctions between good/evil, right/wrong, etc... they seek to force us to stop listening to our consciences (and the Bible), slandering our righteousness with such slurs as "hate", "intolerance", "phobia", etc, etc. Well, we must resist and stoically stand our ground, never submitting. This is who we are and who we want to be and we will not allow anyone to tell us how to be instead of who we are. Let's not allow them to take away our rights.

Gravatar I'm not a church historian by any means, but hasn't the bible been interpreted very differently by many different sects of Christianity throughout history?

Gravatar Yes, Peter, that's correct. Common knowledge. Catholic, Protestant, etc.

But, Peter, the issue is of an intrasect nature.

The problem is with radical extremists in the pulpit and elsewhere in Churches forcing radical changes that literally disobey the Bible and God. Radicals enter Churches from the outside, enter the clergy, all the while harboring a hidden and malicious agenda to transform Christianity one Church, one sect at a time.

It's the same as what happens in society outside of religions. Radicals infiltrate the state apparatus and implement extremist programs against the will of the People, without their knowledge, without their consent, against their right to be informed and to be able to consent democratically when radical social transformations are proposed. I have already shown you, and you agreed (yes, you did, and you defended the whole thing), that the radical homosexual extremists have conducted a dishonest, relentless, fascist propaganda/brainwashing campaign to impose their worldviews/philosophies on the People without them understanding what was being done to them, without their consent, against their constitutional rights.

We also see it in what the CAIR does and in the acquiescence of the state apparatus to that terrorist-supporting Islamic supremacist/imperialist organization.

And in the "Global Warming/Climate Change Big Lie propaganda/brainwashing campaign which also displays fascist tendencies, including death threats against dissident scientists and demonization of all who question the ideology and the science, which is NOT sound, nor conclusive, nor with a "consensus" that is valid.

People are awakening as to what's happening in society now. I'm talking about coming to realize that we're actually living in an Orwellian world in which shadowy elites with awesome powers of coercion are setting the agenda, being supported by brainwashed activists and getting what they want even though the People don't want what these few radical extremists want.

Gravatar So, elements of the Anglican church
agree that their reading of the bible
precludes homosexuality. So your article notes. This interpetation
seems to parallel the K'oran. Are you suggesting that Christianity and Islam share a belief here? That these people should be stoned, etc?

Gravatar There's absolutely nothing in the Bible about "stoning". That's only found in the Koran.

Bet you don't know a lot of the horrific truth about the Islamic World and just how murderously intolerant they are towards anyone merely suspected of un-Islamic behavior, or towards women for simply being women, as the media won't tell you much at all about it.

Gravatar Fifteen biblical verses in favor of stoning may be found here: http://dwindlinginunbelief.blogs...e-vs- quran.html The Koran does not address stoning. True, I don't know much about Islamic law and Sharia, other than that it is brutal and archaic. The fact that churches
cannot agree about social issues is just another sign of the times, I guess. My original observation was
simply comparing some Christian precepts with those of the Muslims, in particular, homosexuality. Perhaps it is a good thing, in light of the monolithic thinking of Islam?

Gravatar BB, do you have a better source than some disgruntled atheist's blog posting linking to other atheists' stuff?

It's suspect. You can do better. I've never heard of Biblical passages relating to stoning. Then again, I've admittedly not yet studied the Bible in depth and memorized it.

I confess I"m not an expert, but, really, I think the important distinction between Christianity and Islam is in their actions.

The Muslim World daily practices stoning, beheading, hanging, blowing off heads, toppling stone walls upon homosexuals, etc, etc... and it's because of the Koran, Sharia and literal interpretations thereof.

I've blogged on the inhumanity and horrifyingness of the Islamic World. Anyone who thinks it's anywhere near equivalent to the tolerant, compassionate, loving "Christian World" (the part of it that's not leftist/atheist) is literally either lying in line with an agenda or is insane or brainwashed.
