I LOVE Augusten and I have read Running with Scissors and to think that he has a normal life right now is amazing!

Seriously! Between Running with Scissors and Dry I don't know how he's even still alive.

I had the same "I'm not really an alcoholic after all!" reaction when I read _Dry_. Whenever I am doubting my "sobriety" I read a few pages to remind myself: Yes, you most certainly can have that 9th beer tonight!

Sidebar: The letter that he has to write to "Pighead" while he is in rehab made me sad.

Yeah, I couldn't really write about Pighead because that whole part made my heart want to explode. With sadness, you see. Explode with sadness.

I find it sad just to learn that someone is called "Pighead".

I don't read so good. I mostly use books for swatting flies and leveling tables.

Hello, Collective.

I cannot believe you would withhold the ending like that. You're cruel, Jennie. Now I'm probably gonna have to go purchase (or borrow, whichever...) a copy and *gasp* read it myself. I hope you're happy.

Scott, you know at first it was almost distracting that he was called Pighead, but by the end, it seemed perfectly natural.

Shari, I'm sorry. No, I'm not, mwaahaahaa!

Augusten Burroughs' and David Sedaris' books are sitting next to each other on my shelf because if I were, say, a gay matchmaker (which I'm not), those two would strike me as an ideal match. Mostly for entertainment purposes, but still.

I can probably find you a rich crack addict if you want. I interview them almost every day.
[deep intrinsic thought] "Wow Tam, being an illicit drug researcher is a cool way to get dates for your friends. You are a great friend" [end thought]

I want to know the ending because I'll never read the book (because I'm an asshole). Also, I would like a martini right now.

Sir, if they got together, I'm pretty sure they'd be the funniest couple ever.

Tamara, oh please? Please can I date a crack addict? Pretty please?

Abigail, if you really want to know, I'll tell you. But not here. I don't think the comments section is a place for spoilers.

Hmmm...this memoir sounds like my college. Maybe I should get to an AA meeting stat and take friends.

I really wanna know the ending too!

Does. he. live? *gulp*

Hi Jennie! I liked your book report. A+

Bertha, if he didn't live, that means Zombie Augusten wrote this book. In which case . . . I don't think Zombie Augusten and I can be BFF anymore.

mg! Yes! I miss getting grades. Is that weird?

omg, i get graded at work. but i'm like, valedictorian or something, so it's okay.

no way, kat! you get graded at work? with real letter grades?

Yes, I need to hear more about the grading. Do you get pluses and minuses or just letters?

OMG, I'm SO glad I don't get graded at work, because they'd probably take into consideration all my computer time-wasting, and then I'd have to make it up with extra-credit... WAIT! I'm the boss! I give myself an A++!! Nevermind.

yeah, real letter grades. ON A CURVE, no less.

and get this up until about two years ago? it used to be pass/fail!

If you failed, did you get fired? I could not work in that kind of environment. I'd hyperventilate daily.

that's the thing; the only way you can get fired from my job is if you actually MURDER, like, your boss or someone higher up.

i have NO IDEA why they make us go through all this.

I'm assuming murder is pretty easy to avoid. Except, of course, when that jerkface was your boss.

I love Running With Scissors. I've never read Dry, but I need to do so.

Bad stuff DID happen to you. You just don't know about it yet. The trick is to remember it all and write about it before you're too old to enjoy the success. Good luck.
