quite a library there, I daresay. in a spirit of unabashed competitiveness, I have 11 bookcases full myself. I think I can tell from your comments that you might fall a bit to the left of me. But I love Annie LaMott, too and Lauren Winner's GIRL MEETS GOD and Donald Miller's BLUE LIKE JAZZ. I am currently teaching an Evening At Emory course called MUSIC & SPIRITUALITY, with a drumming circle next week and one of the Indigo Girl's father the guest for Week 4.
I'd like to invite you to Theology Cafe. It meets every first and third Wednesday from 7-9 at Northern Star Coffeehouse in Historic Norcross. This Wednesday, I am leading one on RITUAL. Always anywhere from 10-15 people show up. We're taking July off. In August, when we resume, we will likely meet the last Friday of every month at Scoops on the Square in Lawrenceville, assuming they can lease a new location.
SO that's part of my gig. What else have you read that really left an impression on you?

Wow, I am feeling inferior, too, with my paltry 1200 or so books. Unless you count my 5,000 comic books. Do those count?? And, um, what about websites? 4,000 websites? No? Sigh...okay...you win.
I never did properly thank you for the alphabetization, by the way. Thank you. Its all up, as of today. Very nice.
And if you ever feel the urge to clean out your bookshelf, you just let me know...

Funny, I was only writing about one of my favourite books half an hour ago ..
* A W Tozer's "Knowldedge of the Holy" If you haven't, a MUST read.
* Riane Eisler's "The Chalice and the Blade" A serious case of "Do some re-thinking Caroline."
* Deborah Tannen's "That's not what I meant" Gales of laughter, and the start of an interest in conversation that now guides my professional life.
* The Brother Cadfael stories (Do you have them in the states?) about a monk detective; realised that some of the strange things people do are often THEIR way of loving God.
* Celtic Daily Prayer (Northumbria Community) through which God has gently nagged me, opened me up and thrilled me anew with Himself.

ps I'll blog more fully over at my place later today.
pps ever thought of doing a library thing, so that you and others don't have to buy books but share them. A sort of eco concern about using excess paper and energy in production.
ppps before I sound self righteous, my shelves are filled with books as well, so I'm talking to myself as well

Ooo, too cool. I would love coming to that on Wednesday -- August sounds great, but then we have that thing called Wednesday Night Supper. But it's over at 7:30 and and I could be there by 7:45. Yeah!
