My mom calls this kind of cleaning "rooting". poor bucket of sand. my cats and I stayed in a cabin once that had an old fireplace that wasn't very clean. It was a week before I realized that ashes are a lot like sand, too.
Well, then thank God that my mentor isn't computer literate.
