Gravatar Bebo does the same thing but it is because he does not want to go back and forth to the lockers.

Gravatar I can understand all of your reasons for homeschooling. I don't have kids yet. I remember when I was a kid sometimes wishing my parents would homeschool me for the same reasons. However, I will say that some of those unpleasant realities about school were valuable lessons for getting a job in the real world. I think jobs should be more logical too. But even if I can do my job in 2 hours, I have to be here for 8. Even if, I'm not feeling well, we only get 5 sick days a year, so people still drag themselves into work. Packing up and moving and leaving people can be painful as an adult too. And even if you are a smart person as an adult or even if you are not so smart, in the workplace you have to learn to get along with everyone - even bullies. I'm not saying that justifies a bad school system in any way and I'm not saying that justifies a bad working situation either. But, even a good school and a good company still have some issues and problems. I'm saying that, as much as I hated school as a kid, those unpleasant realities made it easier to cope as an adult.

Gravatar Holly -- good points. As it is, the bumps in the road, though, are causing extreme stress in my kids. One was attacked last year by two larger boys and they tried to rip her tongue out by the root. Literally putting their nasty unwashed hand in my little girl's mouth. They were suspended, but not expelled.

We are not in an "average" school system -- the amount of violence is incredible to some of my friends. It's way more that I had to put up with. I hate to think that they are growing up thinking this is "normal."

Reason Number Eighteen: As I was withdrawing my High School student this morning, the police were doing their thing (per usual) in the school, taking two students away and searching lockers with a dog for contraband. Is this normal for most Americans?

Gravatar Was for my high school, but I went to school in a high-crime neighborhood.

Gravatar I thought I went to school in some tough neighborhoods, but I don't remember anything that violent at my shool. It does sound like you have a really bad district or really bad school. I think we did have the drug searches though.
