YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO RESPECT FOR ANYONE BUT YOURSELVES! I BATTLED WITH YOU RIGHT TO DIE IDIOTS WHEN TERRI(SPELL IT RIGHT) WAS ALIVE, WE WILL KEEP BATTLING YOU. WHEN YOU SEE EVERYONE AS BEING EXPENDABLE, YOU TOO WILL SUFFER, THEN WHO WILL STAND FOR YOU?
How sad, that even a baby, whom the doctors have solid hope for and no doubts about, that she (the baby) will be threatened by the cancer, cannot have safety from your desires to interfere with her life. How sad, that people are expendable and replacable to you. It is the sad tale of our times, that people come and go much more and we often think because of this that we may usher them along out of life, early.
First of all, I hope no idiot like KC is "standing for me" when my brain has shrunk to the size of a walnut and I'm blind, exsisting only as a living corpse.
But the Torres situation is different. The family and the medical community agree on the course of action. They understand that once the baby is "born" or no longer viable that the mother's life is over.
As long as there is a viable human life hanging in the balance then I believe we have an obligation to support it.
The government isn't looking over their shoulders, trying to force them into a specific decision. That's the way it should be. I love my husband and I trust him to do what's right when the time comes. I love my parents, too, but I don't want it to be their decision. A lot has changed since I've lived with them and I'm confident that my husband will respect my wishes.
In both these cases I believe that the huband made the right decision.
I supported Terri's right to die because she had nothing to be kept alive for. This case is different, Susan did have a reason to be kept alive.
I am a mother of 2 sons. One is not expendable because I have the other. I would give my own life to save either/both of theirs. Your argument that you could understand if they didn't already have a healthy child baffles me. I don't see how that plays into this situation at all. We are talking about a child not some inanimate object. This isn't like not needing a second cell phone or DVD player. This is a viable human life. To not give her the chance to live because there is already another child in the home makes no sense to me.
Bottom line is that I am sure Susan Torres never said to her husband "Gee honey, if I should be pronounced brain dead before this baby is born please keep me on life support until she can be born safely" What 26 year old thinks like that? It was certainly not a thought that I had during either of my pregnancies. However I am sure that my family would have known that was my wishes. I gave up things I loved (smoking) and enjoyed (dancing, drinking, staying up late, soft cheeses, caffiene, sushi the list goes on) for the benefit of my unborn children. Several months on life support would have been nothing to me if it meant they would live.
I don't understand how someone could be worried about expenses when there is a childs life is at risk here. I truly believe that the right decision was made. I also believe that any mother in her right mind woud do ANYTHING to save her unborn child.
You are a cruel horrible person for feeling that the child does not have the right to live. Who cares if there is an older child? I may only be 24, but I know darn well that I would want to be kept alive if I was in similar circumstances. Terri Schiavo and Susan Torres have absolutely nothing in common here. This is a completely different circumstance. People like you who disgust me. How would you feel if you had a pregnant wife in the same circumstance? Would you say "oh just let her die, I already have a child I dont need another one"
you lack them - just remember that what happens now will come back to you one day. Thus, when that horrible thing happens, just remember to this moment and know why. You sicken me!
