When I first read this, I thought... a professor quitting over Condi's visit? This guy must really believe in his cause... Then I saw the phrase "adjunct professor" and all became crystal clear. For those not in academia, let me say that an adjunct professorship means little or nothing. It's just a title, and mostly doesn't even carry a salary with it, unless he also teach classes. There is a world of difference, in short, between a tenure-track professor and an adjunct professor. A member of the first group would no more resign his job over a visit by Condi than he would enlist in the US army. But why shouldn't an adjunct resign? He has nothing, and loses nothing.
