Gravatar Wow. Just looking at those photos is intimidating enough. Super kudos going your way!

Gravatar That is so awesome. My sister and her family lived in Seattle for a few years... sadly, they aren't there now (sadly for me, anyway). I'd love to go back, as well.

And I have been there, hiking with friends and having the worst time of it. Here it's just up Scolty or Clachnaben, but still. It's harder work than I'm used to doing. I walk a lot-- everywhere, in fact-- but climbing uses different muscles, dang it! =D

And my thesis currently feels like a mountain. Thanks for this word of encouragement.

Gravatar Fantastic!

If I am anywhere near Mt. St. Helens on my trip, I will endeavor to replicate your achievement

Gravatar That is terrific that you climbed that. I was blessed by being able to see that mountain before and after the volcano eruption.

Gravatar I get to that area for work about 5 times a year. Now after reading this I must do it myself.

Gravatar That is awesome! Especially sliding down... You should watch the documentary, Blindsight. It's incredible and so moving.

Gravatar Howdy--you stopped over by my photo blog, so I thought I'd visit yours. Congrats on reaching the summit--you worked hard to get there! I bet the slide down was fun, though!!!

Gravatar Wow I'm impressed!
I agree that much of life is your mountain climbing experience.
How true. How true.
It's always inspiring to see this last picture!

Gravatar Beautiful pics! What a great accomplishment.

Gravatar The cool part about this hike is that I didn't have to be an athlete to do it. Coordinated, yes, but not toned, and not accustomed to exercise. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Keep climbing, Amie! You'll get there!

Ultratoast, if you can, you must! You will never regret it!

Hey, me, too, Beth! I have a photo I took in 1981, a month before she first (in my lifetime) blew. After this hike, she blew again. I look forward to going back and seeing the changes.

Mama Bird, I have just now put Blindsight on my Netflix list; thanks for the recommendation.

The slide was definitely the best part; had to keep getting up to warm up the butt, though (imagine sitting on ice for an hour and a half!) If you go, be sure to bring builder's grade bags; they rock!

Gravatar zowie! i've trudged up some of the foothill mountains of the rockies but never a volcano and certainly not as high as st. helens is. congrats on not giving up and getting to have your slide down the mountain. what i wouldn't give for 1.5 hours of sliding down a hill

perhaps someday i'll look back on these past 4 years of doing my undergrad degree and getting employed where i really want to be one of those things that i worked for and toward...especially after i finish my masters.

Gravatar Great post! And what an awesome lesson for the kids!

Gravatar Those are some amazing photos! What an accomplishment!

Gravatar Wow! That's pretty impressive!!!

Thanks for grabbing a button! It looks great here
I'm adding you to my blogroll!

Gravatar What a super post! Awesome photos!

Gravatar OK, so that does look pretty. I hope I can handle yellowstone. there is no cool snow there, though?

Gravatar Yeah, Yellowstone is a bit warmer, heehee.
