Having been a teacher (K/1) I still love teacher/aide tips. I *try* and use my classroom management training with my kids...sometimes to no avail.
Oh and we say PSHAW all the time...

i have a friend who can't tolerate the sound of furniture being dragged across carpet.
i have rather mundane ones like the sound of styrofoam squeaking. the sound of a person sucking on their teeth (including myself) and if a person is a really bad singer i get all squidgy. the only time motion like a waggly foot bothers me is if the movement is conducted to my on a couch or a table.

The Mom, kids are always better for their teachers than their parents (I think). I'm certified to teach Preschool/Kindergarten; I love those young ones...Maybe some day I'll use that cert.
OMG, Naomi, that teeth sucking thing is the WORST! My dear, dear MIL does this after every meal (for about 30 minutes), and it makes me want to SCREAM! (I respect her too much to address it.) Imagine what it was like in the car on Sunday after lunch at a reststop, with an hour more to go!! It was all I could do to keep from throwing myself out the window!

mine is the sound of my husband picking the drywall mud off his fingers/hands at the end of the day and my son laughing in a certain tone that makes the dog howl...it makes me crazy (i don't have far to go) hehe

I myself become obsessed with repetitive sounds - insanity!!! I sleep with a fan going full blast to create white noise for me.
And I loved the simple, elegant solution to Corey. Am keeping this in my secret book for when I (hopefully) start teaching in the fall. So clever!

My grandma refuses to secure her dentures... so the end up clicking around, AND she sucks on them. It's horrible. And my mom has started sucking her teeth and smacking gum... what the heck? Those same things in her mother (my grandma) drive her crazy, and yet here she is, doing the same thing.... I'm doomed!

Amie! Sucking on dentures! That almost made me gag!
My mom is one of those cottonball weirdo's. I would always have to pick the cotton out of a new bottle of tylenol. My brother is just as weird. He CANNOT touch wet wood. If he was doing the dishes and came across a wooden spoon, he would throw it and freak out and make ka-ka noises. My sister-in-law loathes it when people run their hands over the inside roof of a car (its like fabric material that kind of squeaks).

Okay, wooden spoons and cotton balls do seem a bit odd to me...the sound of humming drives me nuts. My ex used to (still does actually) hum all the time, and now my son does it.
I FREAK when my son does it!
My brother used to smack when he ate peanut butter and syrup...I could have stabbed him with his spoon! Drove me insane!

I hated writing on the blackboard. Just the sound of the chalk and my clumsy handwriting equaled a terrible sound. Carly sounds pretty ingenious.

This post is great!
I absolutely hate food smacking. That drives me crazy. Oh, and silverware screeching across plates. It makes me shiver. My teen daughter can't let different foods touch on her plate. She won't eat it if it touches. (freak)
My daughter is just wrapping up her first year of school, and she loves her teacher. But I think she'll mourn leaving the aide behind. I was scared to death when I realized she had a man for a kindergarten teacher at the beginning of the year. Who was going to help her with stubborn clothing?! But Miss Barbara was an angel straight from heaven!

My daughter gets so IRRITATED when either one of her little brothers makes repetitive noises at the table whereas it doesn't bother me much. But the sound of someone chewing. Argh! Rip my hair out. I also HATE the sound of a dog chewing or munching or something. Very weird.

I absolutely can't stand the cotton pads dentists use. Makes me crazy! I also hate hearing people chew, even if they are chewing with their mouths closed. HATE. IT!

Oh my gosh, I know this isn't funny, but it is funny. Everyone has their thing, don't they??
I get crazy when I'm trying to do something at the end of the day and my son jumps on and off of something. I don't know if it's the noise or the jumping or what but it drives me bonkers. I get an eye twitch right away.
My husband used to share a room with one of his brothers when they were kids and once all out of nowhere his brother just punched him while he was trying to go to sleep. He said he was "breathing too loud"!!

One of my friends in high school wouldn't eat in the cafeteria if they were serving jello that day because she couldn't STAND to see jello giggle! She also claimed to believe that you could get pregnant by being exposed to the pollen in a garden -- so avoided gardens. She ended up with two kids, so must have met a "gardener" she liked! :}
