Gravatar $495 ??? SERIOUSLY????!!!!

that might have paid for my books for the first semester....MAYBE...if I bought them all used, (which wasn't always an option)

wow.

Gravatar You should post the full library story. You know, just to embarrass the kids.

Gravatar Thanks Barb, I have had a blast helping out!

Gravatar I hope when mine are college aged there will still be schools with tuitions off 3,300/semester! But the part about paying a penny for parking in the high school lot... I don't get that!

Gravatar P.S. Although it should go without saying, I was NOT on duty during the library indiscretion! You know, Weaselmomma, I just might. Stay tuned...

Gravatar Seriously?!!? Kids in your area have to pay in order to park in a parking lot at their high school!?!? College I can get but high school!?!? I went to school in both North Dakota and California and never had to pay for parking. I paid for student passes to activities such as sporting events or band concerts, I paid for dances, and I paid for stuff out of the student store, but never even heard of kids paying to park. I'm flabbergasted, wow! I wish that when my kids get to college they pay so little for tuition. That's a really good deal considering the colleges around here are in the double digits for one semester. Not couting books, meals and parking. Good luck to choosing a college and getting it all taken care of. I remember teh good old application process a few years ago. Ugh. Worst crap I ever went through...Especially when it got to filing for financial aid. Ugh!

Gravatar I live for the day I can embarrass my children. It will be a long while before I can do it quite *that* way, but I'll devise others in the meantime.

Gravatar I told my boys - "That's why God invented School Buses."

Gravatar I's sooo funny, kids really don't want to think of their parents in THAT way. It really freaks them out no matter what age your children are. I have been mistaken for my sons wife, OMG talk about really upsetting him. Now, I have to admit such happenings always takes my ego up a notch.

The tuition prices just blow me away. I started college in 1970 when the "moon was in it's seventh sun." My youngest is 31 and I hear the current fees it's enough to give an oldie but goodie a coronary experience.

Have a great day and dig deep Mama and Papa!!!

Gravatar You are freaking me out I'm a mere two years away form paying for that...maybe I should sell her instead.Just kidding but OMG times have changed.

Gravatar $350??? That's a car payment, not a parking fee!! Yikes!!

Gravatar High schools here don't have a parking pass, thank goodness. $350 is insane! (I can understand the smaller amounts like $10...)

The tuition part is what really cracks me up! (and scares me!) I can't believe how much it's changed over the years.

Gravatar In the early 80's I didn't have to pay to park at school, but I think my former highschool now charges a fee. I think it's to pay for the sticker in the window, but I doubt it's anything near $350. wow.

You have damaged your college age son! LOL He may never go into the library now hahaha

Gravatar It sounds like you've had a lot of fun in this college process with Kyle He's going to have so much fun his freshman year! Has he made any final choices yet? And yes, you're right-- freakin' college is SO EXPENSIVE.

Gravatar our HS parking passes are $100/each. Of course every kid needs her own spot. Sheesh. As for colleges, we've had 3 in school for the past 2 years, and will have 3 in school for the next 4 years I think (one of those years we'll get a break with only 2 in college...)
Yikes. Is noon too early for a glass of wine? I think I just talked myself into one.

Gravatar My first semester in college was $695. My last was $1350. Does that make me old?

I didn't realize it actually COST anything to park in HS. Wow.

Gravatar Study rooms: At the Univ. I attended, the large study rooms had a number of windows. The small study rooms had a small window in the door. Would make it more exciting, dontcha know.
(Not me!) But one time I did find a used condom in the science stacks.....

Gravatar OMG, Viridian! That takes the cake! This particular study room had no windows but was open a the top...

Gravatar I am scared to DEATH to find out what tuition will be in 10 years when A starts college. We've been saving since he was an infant, but still...

Gravatar At my son's high school a parking pass is $7 ~ $350 is insane!

For my daughter, her college housing fees are more than her tuition. It would have almost been worth it to purchase a condo and rent out the other rooms. Could have been less expensive in the end.

Gravatar That's about how much my friend paid in Illinois to park at their high school. My kids paid $10.

Gravatar That parking fee is beyond outrageous. I'd walk a hundred miles before I pay that ridiculous fee.

Like you, I remember paying my semester fee with a check for hundreds of dollars. There was no need to borrow.

But you got me there with the "really good time". Can't say I did that one in a campus building.

Gravatar Bwahahaha! Glad you two had a "really good time" and get to tell your kids! That's awesome!
Pay for school parking?!?! $10 seems very reasonable actually, but $350. NO WAY! I'd make my kid walk the extra block. Yikes!

Gravatar Pay for parking in High School? That's insane! I cringe when I think of what college tuition will be when Princess Nagger finally gets to that age...

LOL on your library escapades - you should post it!

Gravatar I remember writing checks in college too, and I never understood why people would say it cost $40,000 a year. I was always wondering if I was forgetting to pay something! It was about $1200 a semester, including books. Way back in the 1990's. I still don't understand why it only cost me an average of $3000 a year, when somebody else said it was $40,000 for them. Something awry there!!

Gravatar Oh, and another thing! I was watching one of those home hunter shows on one of those cable channels like Lifetime or TNT or whatever, and a couple bought a $600,000 condo in Chicago. $27,000 went to a parking spot?! I was appalled!

Gravatar I think when I went my tuition was about $1200 a year. It scares me to think of what it will be when my son and daughter go. Yikes! It's only 4 years away for my son. Yikes again!
