I know that moving over to Wordpress will be a tiny hassle, but there are major objections to staying at Blogger. One is the difficulty of maintaining Haloscan at Beta, which is a huge pain to move over, and second is the decreasing quality of Haloscan's spam blocking powers, which failed utterly last week in a flurry of Italian spam.

I like Wordpress better because it has a better comment function (that will hopefully mess up less for people), easier format editing, and access to statistics and comment editing will be available to everyone, not just me, since it's all in-house at Wordpress.

I was also having the problem that, because I have more than one Gmail account, signing into different Blogger accounts was signing me in and out of my email addresses without my knowledge. This was very confusing, but I may be the only one this affects.

Well, I'd vote for Wordpress (but I am biased). Besides, I already have a wordpress account and to be honest I don't want a Gmail one.

I'm happy to move things over to Wordpress.com, but could you make a general announcement on C18-L etc., with directions for signing up, so that those who wish to follow the Parker discussion or keep up generally will know where to find us? Thanks.

I was a little mystified by the Italian spam myself, so I think moving to a location with better protections seems like a good idea.

The new blog looks lovely. I will miss the header of this one, but I like the new one as well and as you say, it seems to offer a lot more.

Maybe I should switch some other things over there ...
