Gravatar And thank you, too - not just for the link to my blog, but for helping pass on the word about World Breastfeeding Week!

I agree with you wholeheartedly -- I totally believe in a mother's right to choose breast or bottle, but it makes me sad when they choose the bottle, especially for some ill-informed reasons. My all-time fave? "Breastmilk is only as good as a woman's diet and mine isn't very good." Actually, all your nutrients go to the breastmilk first, so you won't be depriving your baby of anything. Plus, whatever the quality of breastmilk you think you have, it is much better than the quality of formula. But of course I don't say anything - I realize how much guilt goes along with the decision to breastfeed or not, and motherhood in general.

I just like to rant on my blog (and yours apparently) instead! Hahaha!

Gravatar I agree. But i think any excuse, not to breastfeed, short of medical necessity is lame.
There, i said it.

Gravatar Sorry to say, I disagree, It really isn't for everyone. And yes, some people are still offened by it. IM not, but I do think it should be done with some modesty involved. A 15 year old boy just doesn't have the control over his body when he sees a boob hanging out(whether he's used to it or not). And I truley think my breast are just fine for other adventures, such as sex!!! Hey most of us came from the bottle and we're doing just fine! The mommy guilt thing is bad enough with everything else that comes along with kids, I don't think we need to make formula feeding moms feeling inadequate.

P.S. As far as nursing past a year, I have a real problem when I see a kid in public go up to his/her mom and either tug or lift up her shirt to get some boob. That I must say offends me. Ok so I'm a prude.

Gravatar I agree with cindy I was in the park the other day with my teen daughter and there were lots of other kids playing this women shows up with her baby flops out the boob and starts feeding. Now I have a problem with that.I to am a generation of bottling feeding and I turned out alright.Lets keep it behind shut doors people.A boob is still part of sexual animity it doesn't need to be exposed for the world to see.P.s why couldn't she feed the baby in the car before she came into were the playground

Gravatar I think that if a woman wants to breastfeed at a playground it is her right just as much as a mom who would feed with a bottle. She shouldn't have to stay in the car to feed her child, or a restroom or whatever. I agree with my aunt that a certain amount of modesty should be involved, but i certainly don't believe that just because a mom feeds her kid with a bottle she should have more availability to where she feeds her child at. It is a natural thing, no matter how squeamish people are. Everyone has a right to breastfeed, bottle feed, look away, or whatever.

Don't worry Aunt Cindy, i won't let Jennah tug my shirt up and chow down. I will make her ask first. haha

yeah, i was bottle fed too. I am fine. Breastmilk is better. Period. This not an opinion, it is fact supported by science. It is up to the mom whether that is the route she goes. If you make a decision, that is your decision. don't feel guilt. Life is too short.

Gravatar PS By the way I did breastfeed my 2 boys. Not very long mind you but I gave it a try!

Gravatar What you did was a gift. Good for you.

Gravatar Yes, you and your brother were bottle babies, and I have to say I never felt a moments guilt about it. Love CAN come in a bottle too; but I think it is a wonderful thing to be able to nurse your children successfully. I'll blame the "LaLeche League Nazis" of the early '70's for turning me off to the whole idea...and you know what a rebel I thought I was! LOL

Gravatar Hey non breastfeeding mom, go feed YOUR baby behind closed doors. What? Like behind behind closed doors for a year or more is practical? Doing the thing that mammals are named after (the mammary gland, look it up)and the thing that kept this thing called the human race ALIVE is a bad thing to do in public? So you think boobs are only for sex, great. Then how do we change that? We change that by showing the other use for them, the real reason they were invented!! If boobs are not shown for the purpose they were invented, then we will continue to live the the dark ages. That being said, covering with a blanket is appropriate, and I do not advocate full boob nudity anymore than I avocate men in speedos.LOL.

Gravatar roflmao! you kill me.

Gravatar Even if my daughter was biological, i don't know if I could have breast fed. (At some point i was informed my medication would be a problem. By medication I mean Jack Daniel's. yes, I'm kidding. I have a bowel disease.) I think it is a beautiful thing to feed a child. As far us, I would bottle feed the baby when we brought her home, but I would hold her against my bare chest. I think I would have breast fed if I could. However, I'm here to judge narrow minded right wingers, women have free reign to make their own choice. We get judged too much by society. Stay at home, work. Breast feed, don't breast feed. I'm glad we have choices.

Gravatar Me too, Daph, Me too.

Gravatar Choice is good...
