Also because I think such an amendment lacks prudence. Federal power is an enormous and terrible power that we don't want handling such an important and sacred issue like marriage. Like I always say, enact a federal marriage amendment and you'll get federal pre-cana all with requisite "family planning" classes down the road. Imagine Hillary Clinton with a hold on a Federal Marriage Amendment.
When you make a sword, you want to be cognizant that the sword can be used against you. If you don't like the consequences, don't make the sword.

RP said that he felt that marriage should be a CHURCH function, and not a political one, which is perhaps one of the smartest things I've heard any politician say in my life. Overall, RP is showing up the politics of denial in a big way, but those still in denial can't see it yet. I hope they wake up soon enough- the thought of all my personal liberties RFID monitored in the hands of the battle-axe Billary sends shudders up and down my spine.
