Gravatar I have Ody's e-mail and have been thinking about sending him a message. I'll do so now.

He showed up at my blog back in May when I re-opened it and left a few comments.

Gravatar It's interesting to see the Washington Monthly blog turn into another Daily Kos since Kevin Drum left to go to Mother Jones. This thread in particular is inexplicable. CNN confessed that it had hushed up criticism of Saddam before the invasion to keep their bureau from being kicked out of the country. Now, the lefties are saying it was Bush's fault. That's crazy but Kevin seems to have been the only influence for sanity there.

It looks like to me the Washington Monthly types are referring to a different kind of hushing up -- that CNN muted criticism of the Iraq war for fear of Bush and Fox News.

That said, many of the WM comments in that thread look idiotic. This one is a real Rhodes Scholar:

And if McCain moves, I am leaving. I will not live here any longer. I refuse to live amongst the dumbest population which allows everything it stands for to go up in smoke. I have done everything I can for the last four years. Nothing happens. And if this continues, fuck it. I am history. I do not want to spend my life fighting against something which has been stolen.

Gravatar Mike K.,

CNN confessed that it had hushed up criticism of Saddam before the invasion to keep their bureau from being kicked out of the country. Now, the lefties are saying it was Bush's fault.

Wasn't that in the first Gulf war, not OIF?

Gravatar That's some funny stuff. The comments I mean.

I hope Ody comes back. And James too. And LYT. Well, maybe someday.

Gravatar Didn't Ody have back surgery awhile ago, or something of that nature? I'm assuming it went well, hopefully.

Gravatar Dmac,

That's right! Ody did talk about facing back surgery. Tough stuff. He may also be a casualty of heightened restrictions on bloggers.
