My kids are done Friday May 30th. Jonny will 'graduate' from 6th (yes, 6th is still elementary here!) and everyone will advance to the next grade, praise be. I'll still have one at home...then in 2009 my baby will start Kindergarten and I will be home alone for the first time since 1996. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. Any thoughts?

Chuck, we have our first softball scrimmage tonight. Nat just tried on her cleats...we're good to go. I got a camcorder for my b.day and will try to take some video. Our home computer (this one) won't allow me to access email or any other site that requires pop-up sign-in windows. I'll figure something out.

Must jet - busy day. I'm off to fill 1,000 water balloons for Field Day!

Go Spurs!

It makes me realize that neither of the Koreas were really "the good guys" back then. The South was a brutal right-wing dictatorship, and the North was a brutal communist dicatorship.

Maybe we can say that, thanks to US influence, the South evolved into a prosperous and stable democracy over a period of several decades after the war.

I've only seen the AP doing a story on it so far. It doesn't seem to be anywhere else. Not sure why. Is this not a major story?

god..please dont be true.

Has anyone seen the news about how the South Koreans are uncovering mass graves from 1950? The South Korean government executed up to 100,000 leftist political prisoners in the span of a couple weeks, back in 1950. Apparently it was hushed up for decades, and the truth is only coming out now. The mass killings were apparently done with US approval, with American officers present.

I don't know what else to say. I know war sometimes calls for harsh measures, but to think that we were involved in attrocities like this makes me sick to my stomach.
