I agree, Iran is really close to a revolution right now. The Mullahs have 2 choices if they want to remain in power:
1) A bloody crackdown, Tiananmen Square style, or
2) Bowing to liberal reforms, like Tsar Nicholas II did in Russia in 1905. It's not just about the election at this point....it's about civil liberties that have long been suppressed.

Unbelievable. I quit smoking for a year in a half. Sure, I did it by nontraditional means: Swedish snus. My teeth and gums have improved. Cardiovascular speaking, I have 20 times the energy. I did this without losing weight.
And now....with this new tobacco bill that's going to pass.....I won't be able to buy the stuff!!!!! (The stuff sold here in gas stations by big tobacco is fake)
Sure, I can be judged. Just quit like a man. Cold turkey. Big brother says jump I say how high.
Damn government...get out of my face!!!!

In my class we were going over the Soviet-Afghan war. A kid raised his hand and in all seriousness, said "We should have armed the Soviets."
Weird that a post cold war generation are close to young adults now.

Yeah, the Lebanese here in Detroit, both the old generation and the new generation have been truly a blessing to America.
Cool dudes. Hard workers. Great businessmen. Damn good food.
I would have loved to have been in Beirut back when it was the resort, party town that I picture it was.

I'm guessing Hezbollah. The Brown Shirts of Shi'ite extremism.
Man...even if this thing spills over and morphs into revolution, there still are millions of radical nut jobs there as well.
Bloody, bloody stuff the day this regime goes down.
Imagine if they actually had nukes ready to launch while they were losing their grip on power. I bet they would launch them on Israel.

I doubt they are legitimate Lebanese law enforcement; more likely Syrian or Iranian controlled militia-type thugs. Although the place has been turned upside down in the many years since I was there, I still have a lot of respect and admiration for Lebanon, its diverse people and the way they all worked together as one nation. In face, my heart aches for them.
