As my Dad liked to always say, I have the "golden handcuffs" on now. I'm tenured and (due to "buying" years) I have 12 years in where I am now. I couldn't, in good faith, leave this cushy union job now.

My goal was always to work for a school overseas, that's why I find it so amazing Gkahn asked me about that. Every year I would apply with DOD etc. with the hope of going somewhere exotic. My wife was always all for it too. Heck, internet trolling for funky jobs landed me the one in the correctional facilities of Virginia.

But, this is Michigan. I could be out of job next year. Unemployment here is like the Black Death of the Middle Ages. It strikes anyone at anytime. You never know. And if that is the case, I would love to take advantage of your contacts, Sheebs.

Chuck, I can put in direct contact with some of my former Int'l school teachers and you can pick their brains.

Sad about Michael Jackson AND Farrah Fawcett (and Ed McMahon earlier this week) - however, we're going to be inundated ad nauseum with news footage and obits. for the next 2 weeks. The press which villified MJ is now going to scramble to add to the rhetoric of his legacy, etc. and pretend they always loved him. Puh-leese. Give us some 'real' news. Sadly, the attention that's needed in Iran/N. Korea/D.C. transit disaster will be lost on all of this Hollywood Hoopla. That dude Sanford from S. Carolina is thanking his lucky stars that these dead celebs have effectively made his own perverted news story vanish overnight.

I would recommend not going to a DOD school. Most of the smaller 'State Department' or 'Embassy' schools are really private schools that have some funding and support from those organizations but they are not involved in the hiring. Either the principals or a member of the school board usually go to the teacher hiring 'fairs' at some central location overseas or in the U.S. to recruit teachers. Do a search for various schools overseas and then contact the school directly.

So you destroyed two compound words. So what?

"work over seas for ever"

perhaps with syntax like that, we know why I wasn't hired. :)

I also started the process once before to work for the State Department. Unfortunately, I decided that my behavior from the age of 22 to 26 might hinder me in terms of security clearance.

If I could have done things over again, I wouldn't have rambled so much when I first got out of the service.

gkhan,

Weird you say that. I have applied so many times to DOD schools, with no luck.
I have wanted to work over seas for ever.

Year round softball....Heaven. Seriously.

Gravatar Normally I would say that someone (Mark Sanford in this case) shouldn't resign because of a sex scandal, but he's in a similar situation to Elliot Spitzer. They both ran for office on squeaky clean images.

What bothers me is all the South Carolina politicians who are calling for him to resign......I bet 50% of them have had affairs before, or are having affairs right now. The hypocrisy of politicians is the real problem, whether they're Democratic or Republican.

Gravatar Streetgang: Have you ever considered going overseas to teach at an American school? Decent pay with benefits and in many instances even housing. Choose a semitropical or tropical country where you could play ball year-long. You would rule the ballfield.

Gravatar Sheebs: Sorry to hear of the passing of Farah Faucett. I know you were a fan of her and her TV show, Charlie's Angels. She was only 62.

Gravatar Agreed. Dude deserves to resign. An overseas adventure like that is a threat to national security.

Gravatar Major props to Mark Sanford's wife, who's busy throwing her cheating husband under the bus. Rather than, say, stand by his side while he proceeds to humiliate her in public.....like 99% of other political wives seem to do (Mrs. Larry Craig, Mrs. David Vitter, Mrs. John Ensign, Mrs. Elliot Spitzer, etc.).

What a liar Obama is. If my Union does not fight this, I'm publicly quitting and refusing to pay dues. It will be the last straw and proof that my union is nothing more then a partisan lobby group doing the bidding of the Democrat party.

Teamsters on the other hand, love them or hate them, will fight this very publicly.

And trust me, this is will happen if Obama is able to pass rationed health care.

I went without health care for almost a decade. It never even crossed my mind I was entitled to it. Never once.

Gravatar Holy Muya, ckb. I think you can, I think you can! Bear Lake, here you come!

Gravatar What a fool, this Mark Sanford. These politicians are so full of hubris they think they are somehow outside the realm of common sense.

Gravatar Well, I guess we can scratch Mark Sanford (governor of South Carolina) off the 2012 Republican Presidential list.....

Play this for the ladies and you can control them

Gravatar something like that. maybe it's like trail running vs. flat road running. it's more fun and a different environment, but takes a little bit more out of you.

Gravatar would you say...

Gravatar would you swimming in a pool vs. a lake is like running the treadmill at a incline and then flat?
