Wow. Very sneaky. Obama has backed off taxing union health care plans, now.
The latest scheme:
Basically, us union guys wouldn't get
slammed until our contracts are up. So, we won't get taxed for maybe a couple of years, while non-union people with decent plans will get the business right off the bat.
The upshot?
Obama might be able to get union leadership on board.
The rest of nation with be frothing at the mouth in anger towards the unions.
Neutralized by the public fury, and screwed in a couple of months to a couple years, depending on the contract, unions end up getting taxed anyways.
Government Health Care will screw me.

Gran Torino could have been a great movie. The Polish diehards who stay in their old neighborhoods are kind of legendary around here. That being said, there are no Hmong neighborhoods/gangs in Detroit. This may sound like a minor detail to some, but I feel it to be a total cop out. How much more wiggle room for Clint. Crusty white guy slowly begins to show love to an exotic and unique culture. Sad to say, the cultural conflict here is a yawner. Black and White, Arab merchants, Mexicans in South West Detroit.
The acting in Gran Torino is at times embarrassing. The conversations are almost cartoon caricature like (The barber shop).
In the end, Clint Eastwood steals the show because, well, he’s Dirty Harry. Anyone who grew up watching Clint in movies such as A Fistful of Dollars to the soundtracks of Ennio Morricone , will give it a thumbs up. To me, Gran Torino is a Charles Bronson movie that pretends to be sophisticated. Death Wish kicked ass. Thumbs up for Gran Torino.

Corruption runs deep in both parties, unfortunately.
One of my old friends from college (Tim) was the campaign manager for Murray Sabin's campaign for NJ governor a few years ago. Sabin was a long-shot candidate, his support started out around 10%, so he had a chance to win the Republican nomination if things broke his way perfectly. Anyway, Tim was a relative novice as a campaign manager, and he was replaced about 2 months into the campaign. He was happy to go, actually. In conversations I had with him afterward, he told me how shocked he was by all the corruption that goes on behind the scenes. He didn't give me any examples, but he said the average person has no idea how corrupt our political system is, and how much violence and intimidation is involved too. He said he was actually scared to walk the streets, at one point.
Tim's met a lot of NJ politicians during the last 10 years. He told me that the only really nice guy that he met (Democratic or Republican) was former governor, Jim Florio. He said that to a man, the others are all self-absorbed assholes. I believe him, and I suspect it's the case in most other states too.

Sheebs, it's only the Best Picture category that's going to be 10 nominees, so it shouldn't make the Oscars that much longer. For the last year's Oscars, Dark Knight, Doubt and Wall-E would most likely have been included if there had been 10 nominees. And the final 2 spots would have been up for grabs among several movies, I think.

yeah...Conyers was a big catch...but corruption goes deep. Many more will go down. That being said, I think Conyers was probably the most embarrassing, due to her insane public behavior. Now her U.S. Rep hubby needs to go down.

TAD I'm totally confused. There's NO WAY the Academy can come up with 10 good films to vote in next year. What? Weird. What do you think? Can you IMAGINE how LOOOONG the Oscars are going to be now?!?!?!?
Chuck, new floors are the best.
MJ - enough of the coverage. I'm over it. People, he's NOT coming back.
Going to see Arj Barker perform tonight at ComedyWorks in Denver tonight. He's so funny!
Right...must go ice my achilles. Sore.

Streetgang, you should write and direct a movie about the life of the prophet Muhammad, starring yourself as Muhammad.

Al Gore spends 30 grand a year on his energy bill, which he easily pays, by selling a power point scolding us about using energy. Orwell couldn't make this stuff up!

I just dropped 14 hundred on new floors. Wow. We had carpet that was getting beyond nasty thanks to being weirdos with 3 dogs. We didn't want a baby crawling on nasty carpet. It was getting to the point where I think I was living in one of those houses that stinks, everyone knows it stinks and its just goes unspoken. You know those houses?
The new fake wood stuff they have now doesn't even look fake anymore and is hard as nails. It looks so good.

"Off the Wall" is MJ's best album, in my opinion. "Thriller" was the commercial highpoint of his career, obviously, but I like the songs on Off the Wall better.
Much credit must go to Quincy Jones for the Off the Wall/Thriller/Bad trifecta, too. Michael Jackson never approached those albums on his work without Quincy.

This is sick, but I was utterly shocked to find out Elizabeth Taylor is still alive. I would have bet the farm she was dead.
Jacko was the man when I was in 6th grade. I remember my friend who lived next door to me (who died at the age of 19 huffing paint thinner) got the red leather Jacko-jacket with all the zippers. I clearly remember thinking he looked like a complete jack ass as he was strutting around the play ground like a game cock.

The members of The Apostles are shocked and dismayed at the tragic and untimely death of Michael Jackson. TAD is probably more shocked than dismayed, but Streetgang is definitely more in the dismayed area. Hence the description "shocked and dismayed" seems like the appropriate response. Although we were in slightly different genres in the music business, I'm sure The Apostles were influenced by The King of Pop in some way or another.
