If you want the best, call up Walt Birdsong and get his "Black-T" finish. Not cheap, but I haven't been able to shoot it off the brake on the .50 yet...

I'm glad you mentioned this stuff Chris, I've been wondering if its worth it myself. The bolt on my turkey gun is bright-ass stainless and I also have some ugly aluminum laying around and I want a fix other than paint. Heads comments make it sound worth it.

I'm familiar with Birdson, and Black T, and it seems to be decent stuff.

I'm also a big fan of Rogard, and NP3, and in fact of Robby Barkmaan in general, plus Robar is in Phoenix.

Oh and they do a hell of a Glock grip reduction package too.

Yeah, but Birdsong's finish can go on everything except the internal barrel - right down to springs and screws - without changing operational dimensions...

So can NP3, but with NP3 you are stuck with the semimatte silver color.

I've had several pieces done by Walt. Really nice soft dark-charcoal color on all of them. I'm trying to work up the nerve to send him my Chandler prepped 700 Remy... I have the same problem with acid sweat/skin oils as you do + I live on the west coast of Florida without air conditioning...

I've heard that Walt can be a difficult guy to get a hold of, and has a long turnaround time (not that I would know anything about that, having a Yost 1911, and a Smith M14. Nah, not at all).

Naa, all you do is call him and start talking about 50cal rifles... Three hours later you will get around to asking him what you really wanted to know, heh, heh, heh. He does love to talk once you get him on the phone.

Seriously, the man has more work then he can do. The last time I talked to him(a few years back) he was running his shop 24/7 to crank out 30K FBI pistol mags. He still managed to get my stuff through in about 6 weeks.
