Yup. That's the brilliant thing about the 4 rules. You can break any ONE, and even if you ND, nothing really bad can happen. You have to break at least two AT THE SAME TIME before something really tragic can happen.

Glad nobody was hurt. Can't imagine they weren't deafened though.

Like the new toy!

Sorry about everyone's ears but I'm very glad to hear that they're the only casualty - and a minor one at that.

I've got a friend that has an 'Any Other Weapon' shotgun that's no problem to fire with it's cruiser grip. I think that's because of the strap on the forearm - it holds it to your hand so it can't jump away from you. Then again, I also have arms like a gorilla and have only run a few rounds through it.

Oh - I assume Mel didn't hurt herself on the flight into the room or you'd really be in trouble.

I was scrolling down the page really slowly so when you said "unfortunately I DO know how it shoots." then showed a picture of a hole in a ceiling. There was a pretty good few seconds of laughter, then an "omfg was anybody hurt?!??!". But I'm glad nobody got hurt, you know what your doing Chris, it's not your fault that Knoxx's are weird. That and I can just imagine your dog looking at you like "wtf was that?"

Glad nothing but the wall was hurt. . . Legman's right though: gotta break 2 rules before someone gets shot.

What's the balance on that thing like anyway?

Actually, the balance is jsut fine. Pretty much the same as other cruiser grip guns; probably because you dont have 20oz of shotshelss hanging way out at the end of the barrel.

KCStever, I was in the room when he did it. I actually saw the shell load, but didn't have enough time to think "did I see what I thought I saw in an unloaded weapon?" and yell at him before he pulled the trigger.

"Oh - I assume Mel didn't hurt herself on the flight into the room or you'd really be in trouble."
After "I'm REALLY RELIEVED that no one was hurt, that was MY 2nd thought also. I just read Mel's message saying she was in the room, but before reading that, I was just visualizing her RUNNING into the room to see what happened (probably with HER Ruger drawn).

Humorous? MAYBE (and a BIG QUALIFIED maybe) long after the fact, but i'm quite certain that there was nothing remotely funnly about it at the time.

And I also agree-the 4 rules are GREAT, and this proves why. As others have pointed out, it would seem to take the breaking of at least TWO of themn to cause serious injury.

Chris,

1: i gotta fire that thing with the Knoxx stock on it.

2: you mean that eeevil bullet-hose assault shotgun fed from magazines hasn't gona on a killing rampage in a schoolyard yet? after all, that's what the Ca assembly says that magazine-fed shotguns do...

3:

Chris: BOOM!

chunk falls out of cieling

Shai:DADDY! Again???

Glad to see no one in your family was hurt. Also glad to see that the Hornady Shotgun TAP ammo is as low recoil as they claim to be.

That is pretty big of you to admit to an accidental / negligent discharge online.

Thank you for the tech on how it happened.

Glad to hear no one was injured.

Of course there was a witness. Dang!

Fodder, if a guy like me, who shoots an absolute minimum of 5,000, and usually more than 25,000 rounds a year can make this mistake, anyone can. If we don't share our mistakes, how are we to learn from them?

Even when you think you are doing everything right, something can go wrong. I wish I could re-inforce how important a lesson that is enough, but it just can't be done; one has to learn from (usually painful, sometimes tragic) experience.

Chris, I can imagine the looks all over for I've done something similar. When I showed my wife the picture she said, "Looks familiar."

My old Winchesterr 97 was loaded as a car gun during a long trip. I was sitting on the hearth and couldn't get it to break down. Shotgun butt was on the floor and I had my finger on the trigger. I jacked it to pop the barrel and feed tube loose. Next thing I remember was a ringing in my ears, the smell of cordite, and shocked expressions on everyone's face. I looked where everyone else was looking and a hole about the same size as that was in the ceiling of the room. No. 7 1/2 shot...good thing too because the next five were 00 buckshot. Only thing my wife said was, "THAT better be repaired by Saturday or you're sleeping on the couch." As in your case, no injuries except some ringing ears and a lot of plaster. Thank God for small favors at least.

My only question is:

Where are you getting the magazines for this setup? I got one almost a year ago, and now that I'm looking into finishing my outfitting, no one seems to have any. Please e-mail me if you know a place.

Airboss woulda liked it.

And you woulda liked....nay, loved Area .45

*sigh*

A toast to times past, and to friends and soldiers fallen, but never forgotten.

Oh, and Steve is surely laughing his ass off at you from above.........

.....hmmm...above. Hope he doesn't return fire!

Knoxx makes 2 recoil absorbing stocks. The Comp stock shown in your post, and the cop stock that has a steel rod fold over for a butt stock that can be flipped up over the reciever to retain the "cruiser" length. The latter doesn't look as cool as the AR type stock pictured in the post, but it is more versatle. Shooting it in "cruiser" mode can be done by your wife, one handed, shooting 3" magnums. My wife did, and she weighs 100 lbs soaking wet. The fold over is quickly deployed for long rang sighting help, but comes in handy in QCB situations like in a hallway.

Also, The 45 degree cant of the screw in grip on the pump is also most excellent, and the best for RAPID cycling..

I'm actually writing another post right now discussing Knoxxes other stocks. I really like the company as a whole. Oh and they actually make four (for shotguns anyway, and two more for rifles), the CopStock, the CompStock, the SpecOps stock, and the SpecOps folder.

I still don't care for the vertical foregrip though. I'm hoping the surefire bit will work.

I have a mossy and was looking at getting the knoxx stock you mentioned. YOu just have to give a review when you get one.

I found a decent video that I am going to buy for my mossy also, just go to gun video and search for "mossberg 500"

I purchased one of them sidewinder kits for my maverick 88. I carefully installed it to their specs and like you say it cycled great right up till I went to our range and fired it.Upon firing it I discovered it jammed alot, so I figured maybe I had loaded the magazine incorrectly I unloaded the mag then reloaded it properly just to find out it still jammed. I emailed their customer service and they insisted I had installed it wrong because nobody else had the same problem. When I assured them I had followed their directions exactly then it must have been a defective drum. They told me how to send the drum back for a free replacement which I did and they promptly sent me a new one. So here I was all excited to try it again just to find it jammed just like the other one. That shell that you said it leaves in the mag where you can't see it is the kind of trouble I was having but it would get stuck there and when you removed the drum I would have to pry that shell out. Then they said it must be the gun, which i quickly shot down because of no previous trouble out of it till I put that junk kit on it.I removed the kit it shoots great again, I reinstalled the kit it jams so I don't recommend any knoxx products to anyone. Well if your looking for reliable personal defense weapon.
