I don't know what to say.... I'm actually crying, and I don't do that often.
Another true hero dead...

I have considered him a mentor in my life for almost ten years. It was my earnest hope to one day take a Gunsite course and meet him, but my overseas duty stations prevented that from being easily done. Now I wish I had found a way.
I know he preached the philosophy of keeping it simple in an age of constant "improvement", but what low down, no account scallywag would hate him for that? SGT G | Email | Homepage | 09.26.06 - 7:16 am | #

If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.
The streets of Heaven are a safer place tonight... matt | Email | Homepage | 09.26.06 - 1:41 pm | #

Early on I at a much earlier age I aquired most of his books. (Except I have never been able to find a copy of his first one -"The Handgunner", I think.) Anyhow, ,I bundled them all up in a package and mailed them to Gunsite, asking him to autograph them. Which he did and then returned them promptly to me.
The last time I talked to anyone at Gunsite I was told that a new issue of "The Handgunner" was supposed to be in printing. I sure hope so. And to anyone who is interested in his life, I can recommend "The Soul and the Spirit", the biography that his daughter wrote a few years back. emdfl | Email | Homepage | 09.26.06 - 3:52 pm | #
