Gee, my computer crashed, I've sent the hard drive to a data recovery company, but they don't hold much hope for getting readable data because the head really gouged the surface when it crashed.

Not sure I could vote for Bachman either though. I'm well beyond voting for the lesser of a 1000 evils at this point.

Not to hijack the comments, but this is why Shall Issue is so important for CCW. Where ever there is room for discretion there is room for a politician to put his finger on the scale based on personal connections which means there is room for patronage, graft, corruption, and backroom dealings. As slow as it is, everything has to happen in the open, at public hearings and in open court. It's quicker to do things through political pull, but it does not make the country stronger, richer, or more secure, and does not strengthen public participation in the democratic processes.

We were supposed to have outgrown "Crony Capitalism about 90 years ago.
It isn't progress to adopt policies and procedures that have held back countless South American and African banana republics since the responsible adults were chased out in the 60's.

perlhaqr, in the early 70's I found a book called "You can't do business with Hitler", by someone named Miller. It was directed at the business men of Great Britain (when it was still great) and America who were eager to trade with the "new" Germany. To avoid paying for materials Hitler would require payment in other goods, or require the money to stay in Germany, or issue marks that could only be redeemed for certain things, all techniques the Mugabestans of Africa and South America have done. One thing that has stayed in my mind is his description of the trains from all over Germany traveling to Berlin, filled with lawyers seeking favors from the various Reichsministers for their clients, businessmen whose businesses were regulated to immobility if a favor were not obtained to permit continued activity.
I don't see it as any progress to transform America (as the light bringer said he would) into a banana republic (Not to cast aspersions on the purveyor of overpriced yuppie uniforms of the same name) paralyzed by crony capitalism.
